Elma McKenzie Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 11 to Apr. 12, 2005.
MCKENZIE - Elma Margaret McKenzie (Milne) joined her husband of 60 years William John McKenzie (Bill) to begin their next journey on April 10, 2005. She is fondly remembered by her daughters Gail McKenzie Wilcox (Bob), Claire Cook (Terry), Lynn McKenzie-Barteski (Lloyd) and Jill McKenzieDickin (Glenn); grandchildren Amy Wilcox Gelhorn (Lane); Gillian Wilcox (Andrew Tennent), Blaine Cook, Cheryl Cook (Jesse Thornton), Brett Cook, Julie and Malcolm Barteski, Sonia, Angus and Shannon Dickin; her sister Eileen Milne; her brother Tom Milne; sister-in-law Margie Greenhough and numerous other relatives and friends. Elma was born in the Malay Strait Settlements on March 5, 1918. She spent her childhood traveling between Malaya and Scotland. During World War II she fell in love with Bill and came to Canada as a War Bride. Elma filled her life with family and devoted herself to loving us all. Her husband wrote: Like a lyric flows across the beat and nuances of its music so Elma links the themes and variations that make a family flow. To her, a natural mode of being. To us a cherished gift. Friends and family are invited to gather at St. Martin's United Church Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Lung Association.

April 12, 2005

I would like to express my sincere condolences to you on the passing of your mother. I still have wonderful memories of playing at your house and dressing up in the old dresses and you mom bringing us a drink of Tang with Seven-up in it. She was a wonderful lady. I did not know that your dad had passed away too. He was a wonderful man. Take care.

Sincerely,

Michelle Gavigan, Ric & Cameron Clemence
