Elmer M. Ford, 89, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. Elmer was born July 30, 1936 in Milburn, Oklahoma to Grover and Evelyn Ford. He met the love of his life, Quetha Dodd, in Milburn. They eloped and were married in Durant, Oklahoma on July 16, 1955. They moved to Hobbs, NM in 1955. Elmer’s parents had a farm in Oklahoma, where he learned to work hard. It was there that he developed a great work ethic. In Hobbs, he took a job at an oxygen bottling plant. An opportunity opened up and he went to work for Price’s delivering milk in Lea County. He was offered a job with Good Eats Bakery which he accepted, working with the Randolph family. He worked six days a week delivering freshly made donuts and cinnamon rolls to Eunice and Jal beginning at 3:30am. Later in the morning, he would meet up with another truck and load bread and buns to his truck and service the restaurants and stores in Eunice and Jal. With his sales experience, he began working for Frito Lay. He soon became a district manager and continued for many years supervising routes in New Mexico. Elmer and Quetha became co-owners of Blaine Industrial Supply in January of 1981 until they sold out in 2008.
He was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church where he drove a church bus for many years picking up children.
Elmer is survived by two sons, LaVoid Ford and his wife, Denise of Hobbs, NM and Rick Ford and his wife, Dian, of Katy, Texas; one daughter, Sheila Link and her husband Dale of Cheyenne, Wyoming; one brother, Lindon Ford and his wife, Shirley, of Edmond, OK; eleven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
