Dr. ELMER ROBERT
88, of Chippewa, formerly of the North Side of Pittsburgh, a devoted husband, father and grandfather died Friday, February 7, 2014 at Covington Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center, East Palestine, Ohio. He was born February 21, 1925 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Richard and Frances Lipp. He was a 1943 graduate of North Catholic High School, where he played on the basketball team and won the state title his senior year, he then went on to graduate from Geneva College where he also played basketball. While attending Geneva he met Eleanore Otto, Beaver, whom he married and settled in Chippewa Twp. with for 63 years. Elmer attended the University of Pittsburgh Dental School where he graduated in 1950 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery. Dr. Lipp practiced on College Hill for 40 years retiring in 1990. He taught Sunday school for 18 years at the Rochester Free Methodist Church. He was a member of the Gideons, Chippewa Lions Club, Ft. McIntosh Club, and Chippewa United Methodist Church. He was the past president of the Beaver Valley Dental Society, member of the Ketler Society of Grove City College and the President Council of Geneva College. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Eleanore Otto Lipp; a son and daughter in law, Dr. Charles Timothy Shane and Lisa Lipp, Patterson Twp.; two grandsons, Timothy and Charles Lipp. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Lipp; and two sisters, Helen Gerstberger, and LaVerne McNally. Friends will be received Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the GABAUER - LUTTON FUNERAL HOME, Chippewa, 117 Blackhawk Road, Beaver Falls, PA 15010 www.luttonfuneralhome.com where prayers will be offered Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m. at the Chippewa United Methodist Church, 2545 Darlington Road, Beaver Falls, PA 15010. Pastor Rodney Smith will officiate. Entombment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Chippewa United Methodist Church, Here We Grow Fund, 2545 Darlington Rd., Beaver Falls, PA 15010.
