Mr. Thomas was our back yard neighbor in Fairfax until we moved out of state last month. I enjoyed the times we talked over the fence and getting to know a bit about his life... we admired him greatly. We are so sorry for your loss.

EJ was my first boss as a restoration specialist at NASM Siver Hill and I worked closely with him during the opening of the Mall building. Turns out that he was also a friend and colleague of many of my father's aviation friends. He was a great man and I am grateful to have been able to call him my friend. Tailwinds EJ

E.J. was a wonderful friend. It was a treat to listen to his stories and always a pleasure to spend time with him. He lived a long, full life. Thank you to his family members who took good care of him.

EJ was my dad's (Victor Pyszka) work friend for so many years! After he passed he became friends with my mom (Teresa). So sad to hear he has passed.

There are several meanings of the word centurion and EJ "as I knew him"was 100 years of age'. Also he was a adventurer and a leader. Who of us can say we grew up in the roaring 20's. Then leave home in the depression of the 30's. By chance begin a aviation career going from airframes and power plants to flight engineer when the airlines were just starting out.
WW 2 brought new challenges of delivering aircraft to far parts of the world. After it was back to flying for Eastern Airlines and raising a family. The next part of life was at the Smithsonian. Working with famous aviation pioneers, restoring aircraft on display at the Air and Space Museum today.
His most favorite part of life was was when he cashed it all in to be a grandfather. To take RV adventures with his wife and grand daughters to raise them and care for them. This he told me.

EJ was a good friend of my friend Barbara. I celebrated his 99th Birthday with him (first meeting) and was impressed at his knowledge and articulate manner. He loved his family and friends and life. May he be with our LORD Jesus Christ in paradise (for I prayed for his salvation). My condolences to the friends and family of this very "special" man. Patty of Fredericksburg, VA

EJ was a delight to know with a great sense of humor and a wonderful friend of mine for many years. His memory was as sharp as a whistle and full of such knowledge. He enjoyed my food dishes. He even remained a good "phone buddy" after I moved out of the Fairfax area. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to the surviving family. Barbara of Syria, VA
