Elsa Giustina Domenica Lieffort, 90, of Fort Pierce, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023, surrounded by family at Treasure Coast Hospice in Fort Pierce Florida.

Elsa was born in Cengio, Italy on October 14, 1932. She grew up in Italy during World War II and experienced the hardships of war time living with her parents, sister, and grandparents. While working in England as a seamstress, she met the love of her life, John Lieffort, who was stationed in England with the US Air Force. A year later they were married at The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Norwich, England. They were happily married for 65 years. She spent many years as a military wife traveling the world, mainly in Europe where she enjoyed summers with her family in Italy. She had one son and twin daughters who she was very proud of. She was a very strong, funny, and kind woman who always put God and her family first.

In 1982 as John retired they settled in Vero Beach where she was a member of St. Helen's Catholic Church, St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, and the Italian American Club and she worked at Luria's department store. Her interests included cooking, painting, knitting, crocheting, and traveling. Ten years ago the couple moved to Fort Pierce to be closer to her daughters.

Mrs. Elsa Lieffort is survived by her loving and devoted husband John Lieffort, son Riccardo Lieffort (Kathleen), daughters Ramona Rowe (George) and Romana Hansen (Doug), and three grandchildren Cristiano, Kristopher, Elyssa, and one great-grandchild Vannah.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 5000 NW Dunn Rd, Fort Pierce, FL 34981.
