What a book, what a life, what a woman ! To have met and had the chance to hear the stories first hand, what a pleasure that would have been. The pain and sorrows, high's and lows, the life lived... remarkable! I count myself lucky ,very lucky, to have met her Grandson, and found out about Mrs. Martin, and reading her book. You must be so proud of her. I am so very sorry. for your loss, however, Heaven will be a little. brighter, as will my own life for all the history I have learned. Thank You. for allowing me to leave this message.

Paul and Katie, Losing a Mother is a hard thing to do, but rejoice in her life. She had you, Paul, and that is what I am very thankful for. Remember the wonderful things about her life and live yours to your fullest as she did. Am remembering you and Katie in my prayers as you travel to be with your brother and family at this time.

Having grown up in poverty I am more receptive than some. My life has been enhanced by being fortunate enough to have known Ms. Martin. I am the proud owner of her autographed book and remember stories she related to me about her days in Germany during World War II days. I have had contacts with persons like Senator Mcgovern, German Chancellor Willie Brandt and others of notable fame. I include her in that group. James Johnson Florence AL.
