It has been awhile since I lived in NWI and I just found out about Jim's passing today from a coworker. First off my thoughts and prayers are with Jim's family and friends. He was battling his health for some time and now at least I know he is home and at peace.

Besides Jim being a family man, he was also a barber. However, Jim was THE BARBER for Merrillville, Indiana. Everybody got their hair cut from him, all my friends from Merrillville High went there to get their hair cut. If you didn't go to Emil's to get your hail cut...your hair just didn't look right! He always had stories, always knew what was going on in the town, his little barbershop was an institution in Merrillville. I remember back in 1990, I thought I was cool and Jim put "Lines in my head"!! I asked Jim; "Hey what do you think"....he replied..." Its your hair Harry".

I had Jim cut my hail as long as I could until I moved out of the area. Going to Emil's and Jim cutting my hair was one of those things in my childhood that I will never forget. Again my thoughts are prayers to Jim's family. He touched many people.

I just heard of Jim's passing. We grew up in the same neighborhood. I went to school with Jim from kindergarten through high school and I remember him fondly. He always had a great smile. I used to call him a big teddy bear. He stopped in at our business occasionally and visited. My deepest condolences to the Cioni family.

Cioni Family,

We lost a gem of a man this week! I used to be a regular customer of his at Emils Barber Shop for probably 20 years. I, like everyone else, would wait patiently to have only Jim cut my hair. The best part was waiting because we got to listen and enjoy the gossip and discussions before. That Barber Shop was always busy because everyone Loved Jim and his warm personality. I was also fortunate to witness Jim's athletic side as well when we played softball together in Crown Point. That man was a masterful pitcher and could hit the ball to any field. He was awesome to watch pitch because he put it where ever he wanted. I am glad to not have to hit against him.

Jim was a great friend and I am will miss his infectious smile and firm handshake. God Bless him and may he rest pain free finally!

Please accept my sincere condolences to the entire Cioni Family.
