Emil Hahn, 83, of St. Joseph passed away Jan. 9, 2005, at his home in St. Joseph. Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 5020 Cleveland Ave., Stevensville. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call on the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Memorial donations may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, to Boy Scout Troop 607 at E.P. Clarke School or the charity of the donor's choice. Mr. Hahn was born Nov. 21, 1921, in Trakehnen, East Prussia, the son of Gottlieb and Maria (Lausman) Hahn. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1940, Western Michigan University and The University of Michigan College of Engineering. He retired from Auto Specialties in 1986, where he was employed as a project engineer and manager of the brake lining department for 40 years. He married Ruth Baker on Sept. 26, 1953, in Toledo, Ohio. Emil was a charter member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, where he served as a first council president and building committee chairman. He was committee chairman for Boy Scout Troop 607 for eight years. He enjoyed camping, traveling and his grandchildren's visits. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ruth; children -- Debbie (Eric) Standen, Jonathan (Mary Jo) Hahn, Christine (Greg) Beatty and Kathy Hahn; eight grandchildren -- Edward, Phillip and Tim Standen, Laura, Kelly and Julie Hahn and Andrew and Matthew Beatty; and many nieces and nephews.
