Hi Em,
It has been a year and a day since I last got a chance to hold you in my arms. I miss you more and more each day. Your family and friends celebrated your life yesterday by getting together at Merivale Bowling Centre for a couple of games and a meal together. But you probably already know that. Jada brought a photo album that you had given her back in 2002. It had so many great pics in it that reminded us all of times gone by. Jada discovered the book on Christmas Day and said you had sent her a Christmas present. You've sent me many gifts over the past year. But in life you gave me the best gift - the gift of your love. I still feel it and hold it tightly. I am so grateful to you that you so loved pictures because I have so many great ones to look at, to share with others, to remind me of what a happy person you were. I am so glad that you are not hurting anymore. I know that you are home. Until we meet again.
God bless,
I love you.

Hi Em,
Today is your champagne birthday. I prayed for you at Mass this morning and was surrounded by loving friends who pray for you, too. Julie is hosting a bbq tonight to celebrate your day. We will toast you with champagne.
I miss you each and every day and I thank you for the patches of blue, the birds bringing messages and especially for the pennies from Heaven.
I know that you are home. So I will not say good-bye. Just, 'til we meet again.
God bless,
Love,
Mom

Dear Paul & family,
We were very saddened to recently learn of Emilie's passing. I can remember seeing Emilie in the office when she came home after her first lung transplant; she was happy, smiling and laughing. She was a courageous young lady who obviously embraced life to its fullest.

Dear Paul and family,
I was very sad to hear of Emilie passing. I remember Emilie as a little girl when I was kart racing at Karters Korner. I saw the sad news while keeping track of news back home in Ottawa via the internet as I now live in the southern U.S. The last time I saw and talked to Paul was a couple of years ago during my summer vacation when I stopped out at the track with my little niece. Paul at the time told me of Emilie waiting for a lung transplant in Toronto.
She was very brave girl who touched so many lives.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
My deepest sympathies,
Michael Armstrong

Emilie was an enormous part of the Kanata Girls Hockey Association family and the inspiration for and first recipient of our "spirit of hockey award", given to a hockey player, who like Emilie plays and participates despite overwhelming odds.
This award will henceforth be known as the Emilie Joinette award.
She inspired us all, she exemplified the will to truly live, and she was a tribute to her loving family. The thoughts and prayers of the past and present members of the KGHA are with you.

Dear Jeanne and family; My heartfelt sympathy at the loss of Emilie. After 19 years I am often astonished at how I still feel the presence of my son Matti who died in 1991. Our deepest sympathy on the death of your beautiful girl, Emilie. May God grant you peace and strength in your time of sorrow. She can now breath free and easy. My 17yr old son also has CF and had a double lung transplant 3 yrs ago and counting and is active like Emilie in raising awareness.
