Someone would rather be out on the lake
Andrew Stark
March 9, 2012
Though you don't know me, I want to tell you that as a caring neighbor (at the summer home), my heart is with you. If I may share a photo from the week of August 27, 2011. Emily loved fun and sports with her friends I could tell. Her gaze was out to the water, more often than not. Kind wishes in your healing.

What a beautiful young girl! I can't imagine the hurt! So very sorry, I will and have said a prayer for Emily! Gosh she was a beautiful girl.

I know as time goes on, things quiet down and people stop checking in as often, the silence can leave a lot of room for pain. To Emily's family, please know you continue to be in our thoughts, and in our prayers. Wishing you comfort and encouragement as you move forward.

There are no words to ease your pain. We know God must have had a plan for her, to take her so soon. She is happy and would not want you to be so sad. My very deepest sympathy for the loss of your beautiful daughter Emily. Always in our hearts and never forgotten. God Bless.

My whole family has been praying for your family over the past weeks. My husband and I were at the Eldorado the night of the accident and my husband was one of the first on the scene to try and help. I can't imagine the pain you are all going through and will continue to pray, especially on Friday when you celebrate your Emily's life. Know that there are many people praying. My 8 year old said tonight that he has prayed for your family every night. We have not forgotten, and will continue to lift your family up in prayer.

You do not know me. But sadly I was at the Eldorado Club that evening. I'm not from Kelowna. My heart aches for all of you being the Mother of two children.
May your spirit not be broken and little Emily live in your hearts forever.
Have not been able to get you off my mind.
God Bless

Dear Nancy and Family,
Our thoughts have been with you all during this very sad time. I remember Emily sitting with you during those long football practices and she was always so happy and content just to be there close with you. I know you will have many, many happy and special memories that will bring a smile to your face while remembering her joy of life. Our thoughts are with you all. It is hard to remain in the world
and not feel part of it...
to watch others rush about like
nothing has changed when everything has.
Grief makes you feel alone,
yet you do have a place in the world
and others who care for you...
There is still beauty and meaning in life
and you will find it again.
For now, it is enough to rest, to mourn,
and wrap yourself in your memories.
The world can wait.

To the Parents, Family and Friends of Emily. My heart just ached when I heard of her tragic accident. As a mother (formerly from Edmonton) now living on Vancouver Island and having grandchildren in Kelowna just a couple of years older than your precious Emily you have been in my thoughts and prayers. I hope the many messages of caring that have been entered in the Guest Book will bring some measure of comfort to you. Emily obviously captured the hearts of many.
May wonderful memories of times spent together sustain you during this very difficult time and in the future.
A caring Mother/Grandmother on Vancouver Island.

Please Don't Ever Tell Me
I'm going to tell you something
I hope you'll never have to know.
I'll tell you how a heart can break
And tears can constant flow.
I lost my baby girl you see,
An angel in my eyes
God chose to take her hand one day
And led her to the skies.
But please do not forget my child
She was a person too
And forever she will live
Inside of me and you.
So, please don't ever tell me
That time will heal my pain
Because not even time
Can bring her back again.
Just tell me she is happy
In that land way up above
She's snuggled in an angels wings
All wrapped in Mommy's love.

When God calls little children
to dwell with him above,
We mortals sometime question
the wisdom of his love
For no heartache compares with
the death of one small child
Who does so much to make our world,
seem wonderful and mild
Perhaps God tires of calling
the aged to his fold,
So He picks a rosebud,
before he can grow old.
God knows how much we need them,
and so he takes but a few
To make the land of Heaven
more beautiful to view.
Believing this is difficult still
somehow we must try,
The saddest word mankind knows will always be "Goodbye."
So when a little child departs
we who are left behind
Must realize God loves children,
Angels are hard to find.

I'll Lend You A Child
by Edgar Guest
"I'll lend you for a little time a child of mine," He said.
For you to love - while he lives
And mourn for when he's dead.
It may be six or seven years
Or twenty-two or three,
But will you, till I call him back,
Take care or him for Me?
He'll bring his smiles to gladden you,
And should this stay be brief
You'll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay,
Since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there
I want this child to learn.
I've looked this world over
In search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd
Life's lanes, I have selected you.
Now will you give him all your love,
Nor count the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come to call to
Take him back again?"
I fancied that I heard then say,
"Dear Lord, Thy will be done,
For all the joy Thy child shall bring,
The risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness,
We'll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we've known
Forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for him
Much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that come
And try to understand."
