Emily T. (Maciol) Dziok, 95, of Utica, died peacefully after a brief illness on Thursday, November 25, 2010, at St. Lukes Medical Center, with her loving family by her side. Emily was born on July 15, 1915, in Utica, NY, the daughter of Valentine and Theresa Maciol. On November 13, 1934, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to John Dziok of Utica. They enjoyed 47 years of marriage before his passing on November 9, 1981. After the death of her husband, she resided with and was cared for by her two daughters, Dorothy and Joan, with whom she shared a special relationship. Emily was woman of deep faith. She was communicant of St. Marks Church and though she was homebound, she always looked forward to receiving the Holy Eucharist. Emily is survived by her daughters, Dorothy and Joan Dziok, of Utica; a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Philip Enea, of Utica; a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Chuck Adams, of Jacksonville, FL; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Luciano Centra, of Utica; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Sheila Dziok, of Floyd; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Joan Dziok, of New Hartford; and a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sandy Dziok, of Rochester, NY. She also leaves behind her only niece and nephew, Jane and David Dunbar, of Utica, who she considered another daughter and son. Emily is also survived by thirteen loving grandchildren, including Jennifer Centra, Most Rev. Stephen J. Enea, Michael Dziok, Kenneth Enea, Rhonda Stampalia, Marissa Kreis, Michael Stampalia, John Stampalia, Paul Dziok, Catherine Dziok, John Dziok, Jennifer Simmons, and Mary Theresa Dziok; as well as nineteen great-children. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; three sisters, Madeline and Caroline Maciol and Jenny Hendzel; and five brothers, Emil, Larry, Walter, John and William Maciol. Emily was deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed by all. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Lisa Perry for her immediate response and unselfish assistance when Emily first became sick on Wednesday. Thank you as well to the staff of Kunkel Ambulance Service, especially Paramedics James Allman and Joe Bellino who responded quickly for her most recent illness, for the professional and compassionate care they provided to our mother over the years. We offer a special thank you to Dr. Lance Brownstein for his many years of outstanding and kind care to Emily. Thank you, too, to the ER staff of St. Lukes, especially Drs. Hotveolt, Bapana and Win and nurses Liz Hilier and Deb Hayes, whose compassion, attention, and understanding made our burden much lighter. Thank you also to Jackie and Andrea from respiratory therapy. And, last but not least, a very special thank you to the nurses of St. Lukes CCU, where Emily spent her final hours, especially Valerie, Deanna and Stacy. Your tender care and support made Emilys death peaceful and dignified. Mrs. Dzioks funeral will be held on Monday, November 29, 2010, at 12:15 p.m. from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica, and at 1:00 p.m. at St. Marks Church, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Mark Pasik. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. My children, my beloved: my time on earth with you has come to an end; my work here is done. It is time for me to go now, to see Christ my Lord. Pray for me that I may be found worthy of the blessedness of heaven, that place which I have desired and longed for all my life. Be faithful always to God and to each other. Love one another as I have loved you that one day you may join me in heaven. Remember that death is not the end. My life has not ended, it has merely changed. Though I am no longer physically with you, my love for you lives on. Remain in that love. God bless you!
