We are so sorry for the loss of a light in this world. Emily was exactly that. We are blessed to have had the privilege for Emily to be part of our lives even for a short time. Much love to all.

Emily had such a kind, special, beautiful heart and there aren't enough people like them in this world. We kept in touch online but I always hoped our paths would cross again someday. May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.
I thought you might like to know that I posted in a Facebook group about remembering Clear Lake High School grads who passed away (a group I believe Emily either created or was involved in managing), and I don't think I've ever seen so many comments in such a short period of time. Emily left a positive impact on so many lives and many many people remember them fondly and send their condolences. They will be dearly missed.

I just learned of Emily's passing and am heartbroken to hear this. I remember her as a child so full of life. She was a beautiful person with an angelic voice. I was so thrilled when she agreed to sing at my wedding, it made that day so special. She will always be remembered and I am glad that I had the pleasure of having her in my life. May she be at comfort now, I know that she is a bright shining angel in gods choir. My prayers are with her friends and family.

So very sad to hear this. Emily was a year older than me at Clear Lake and I always looked up to them. They were always so positive in band, and always willing to help. Even as we've grown older, we stayed in touch and I continued to learn and be inspired. I will miss you. Sending positive vibes and comfort to all.

Just received the news of Emily’s unexpected death. I am glad for her vibrant and productive life and devastated by news of her death. We never expect our child to precede us in death. Much love to Emily’s family, husband, friends, and extended family. Sending comfort and peace to all in Emily’s life.

I had the privilege of knowing Emily in multiple capacities. They were a student, colleague, and friend. I am at a loss for what to say about someone so very special who taken from us far too soon. Emily was a brilliant scholar and keen thinker. They were kind; they were authentic; they were a fierce advocate for social justice and were able to do the dance of being an advocate, an accomplice, and a truth-teller. In simply being themselves they were a light for many. I know I am a better person for knowing them and so are so many others they touched directly and indirectly. In shared mourning and heartbreak. Rest in power, Emily.

As Emily's most recent supervisor, this shocking loss has hit me in the heart and gut. It was such a joy to work with Emily and get to know them, in an all-too short time period. Emily accomplished an amazing amount in their five months at CIIS, and became rapidly embraced by and endeared in our community. It is no surprise that the warmth, enthusiasm, and energy that emanated from Emily was returned in kind. Emily's passing has left a huge void in our university, not only for their experience and expertise but for the shining example of collaboration and collegiality. I wish that I had been blessed with the opportunity to have known and worked with Emily longer.

Completely heart broken. Emily was UT posse 2’s mentor and dearest friend. They were one of the kindest humans on the planet and poured their heart and soul into us. They made sure we had someone to talk to and an ear when we needed someone to listen. They were the backbone to keeping our family together and successful during our most intense and hardest years of our life. Emily always made sure I knew there was another option when I felt trapped and helpless. Emily was one of a kind. They will forever be remembered and always be in my heart. Rest In Peace, Emily. Your impact is profound.

I only briefly had the pleasure of knowing Emily while they worked with me at UHD, but I'm so glad our paths crossed. We went to lunch together at least once a week. I'll always remember how thoughtful they were during our lunchtime chats, not to mention how dedicated they were to higher education and marginalized people of all kinds. I also treasure our nerdy chats about fantasy/sci-fi shows and books. They were quick to laugh and generous with their attention. While I am so sad to hear they are gone, it means a lot to see everyone they impacted. I can only offer my heartfelt condolences to all of those who knew Emily, especially their close friends and family.

Emily was such a loving and caring person. Whenever I had any concerns, she was always willing to listen and help out in any way she could. Emily was a big part of our doctoral cohort. Emily will be deeply missed. My condolences to Emily and Collin's family.

Emily was a terrific, kind person and an amazing scholar and writer. We first met when Emily was a TA for the College Student course at UT Austin. They were a great TA and gave a memorable lecture about gender theory. We later took a course together and collaborated on a book chapter. Emily was a great friend and colleague. The world has lost a truly bright light. My deepest condolences to Collin and Emily's family. They will absolutely be missed.

I’m truly heartbroken to hear of this news. Emily was one of a kind - someone so special. I learned so much from Emily, but perhaps the most meaningful lesson was the power of presence. During a difficult time in my life, Emily came to my home to sit with me. We talked a little, but also just sat while my kids ran around us. I didn’t have to be their best friend for them to make time for me in my grief. There was absolutely no expectation other than to remind me that I wasn’t alone. It was just who they were. What a beautiful legacy. Emily will be deeply missed.

Oh Em, how greatly you will be missed. To all who loved Emily, I am holding you in my prayers, and I am so sorry for this deep heartache. Emily and I lived down the street from one another from early childhood through high school. We rode the bus together for several years. We were in band together in middle and high school. Emily spurred me on to love and good deeds throughout their life with their words and their actions. Emily gave of themself to truly make this world a more just, whole, and equitable place. I will never forget Emily's courageous leadership throughout our growing up years; they used their strength for good. Emily was compelled by compassion.

I am crushed to have heard this news today from CIIS, Emily's most recent employer. I had the pleasure of meeting Emily just once in real life when she was first hired, and immediately connected with her. What an unfathomable loss to all, and to CIIS. She was already making such progress in her endeavors here. May her nearest and dearest find comfort as she is remembered so fondly by so many.
