Emily Sachs Obituary

Corvallis - Emily D. Sachs passed away on August 20, 2025 of heart failure. She was born at the home of her parents, Antone and Sylvanna Rodrigues, on Christmas Day 1929 in Santa Clara, California. She was the sixth of eight children. She graduated from Santa Clara High School in 1946, then from San Jose Junior College in 1948, with an Associate's degree in Accounting.

She married John F. Sachs in 1950. They moved to Palo Alto in 1953, where John was employed as a police officer. While there, they had two sons, John Jr., and George. In 1960, they moved to Cottage Grove, Oregon and bought a ranch. A third son, Tom, was born while they were living there. In 1966, they moved to Springfield.

In 1970, she joined the classified staff at Lane Community College in their business office and continued to work there until her retirement in 1992. In her retirement years she travelled throughout North America and to Europe multiple times.

She was a long time member of Northwood Christian Church and served in many capacities, including children's ministries, providing meals to church members experiencing life events, and serving on committees and governing bodies of the church.

She moved to assisted living in Corvallis in 2022. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings, as well as by her husband John, her son John Jr., and her son Tom. She is survived by her son George, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. In accordance with her wishes, no public service is planned. Remembrances may be made to the Building Fund of Northwood Christian Church in Springfield, Oregon.
