EMMA ROSS Obituary
Peacefully and in the company of her children went home to the Lord at age 86, on Wednesday, October 12, 2016. A resident of Upper St. Clair for 56 years, she was raised as one of 10 children on the farm in Iowa and lived life with a vibrant love of God, Family and Others. Educated at Graceland College, Iowa State, CMU and Pitt where she earned her Ph.D, she served the poor around the World, served as an Evangelist and Pastor in the Community of Christ, served on the Boards of Graceland University, Outreach International and the Community of Christ Seminary, served as the matriarch of the Universal Electric Corporation Owner Family and was a devoted wife to the late Donald R. Ross, Jr. Most of all, Vicki loved her role as mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Janet (Bill) Zeiger, Joel (Kathy) Ross, Steve (Shelley Scherer) Ross and Julie (Jon) Dixon; her brother, Daniel McVicker; her 19 beloved grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS. Friends welcome at 2828 Washington Rd., McMurray, 724-941-3211. Friday, 3 to 8 p.m. Additional visitation Saturday, 10 a.m. until time of service at Noon in the Community of Christ, 3472 South Park Road, Bethel Park, PA 15102. Interment Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. I just learned of Aunt Vicki's passing today. I am so sorry for your loss. I am so glad I got to see her at World Conference in June this year. She was a loving and caring person. I will always have fond memories of the McVicker family reunion when she and Uncle Don took us all by bus to Niagara Falls and Kirtland Temple. That was a special trip. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Ross Family, I am so sorry for your loss. Although I have not seen your mom for probably 50 years, I remember her fondly. She hosted the most wonderful Halloween parties for the girl scout troop. Based on the accomplishments of her life, her hostess abilities might seem trivial but as a child I thought she was wonderful and obviously many other children felt the same way.

Steve, Joel, Jon, and all the family - I was saddened to read this today at work. I greatly appreciated the spirit I sensed in your Mom in the various dinners and celebrations I attended over my five years here at UEC. She was the kindness, most loving, inspirational person I have ever met!!! My children were so lucky to have had her as their pre-school teacher. The first time I met Vicki was at a Camp Bountiful women's retreat at which she was the guest minister. I believe it was in the '70's! I was so inspired by her ministry that I sketched a picture of her during a presentation. I learned a lot from her at that retreat! In the '80's and '90's my late husband and I worked at Deerhaven Camp in Florida in Elderhostel programs, where we became good friends with Fred and Shirley Finger (Kathy Ross's parents). We got to know both Kathy and Joel and were recipients of their ministry at the Deerhaven congregation. What a very giving, caring family! My prayers will be with your entire family as you grieve the loss of this wonderful lady!

Vicki gave and gave. When I needed a listening ear in my troubled twenties, she gave. When we needed loving guidance for our preschool children, she gave. When we found a charitable cause to support, she joined our cause. She was a pillar of support, patience, loving guidance, and friendship throughout all the time I was privileged to know her.
