Emmett "Scott" Prothero, age 99, after a long and full life, passed away Dec 26, 2022 at the Veteran's Home in Ivins, Utah. Scott was born Nov 3, 1923 to Walter Thomas and Hendrikje (Schaart) Prothero in Ogden, Utah Graduated from Ogden High School in 1943.

Scott enlisted in the US Army Feb 6, 1943. He received two battle stars during WWII for combat operations on Saipan and Okinawa with the 27th Infantry Division, 102nd Combat Engineers.

After the war, he married Barbara May Henry but soon divorced. Survived by daughter Patricia (Travis) Ostberg.

Scott graduated from Aeronautical School in Oakland CA, and worked for Cal Eastern Airways. There he met Beatrice Odermatt and they married in 1952. They moved to Hayward CA and in 1955 started working for National Life and Accident Insurance as Agent then Staff Manager for 26 years, retiring in 1981. He worked for San Jose School District for 7 years, retiring in 1989 and moved to Layton UT. In 1999 moved to Round Rock TX and 2005 moved to Las Vegas NV.

Scott and Beatrice divorced in 1981. She preceded his death in 2016. He is survived by their 4 children: Gail (Bob) Burgess, Brian (Julie), Ronald (Deby), Sharon (Robert) Herrera, 32 Grandchildren, 74 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great-Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death by son Gary Robert Prothero, 2 grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter.

He married his Eternal Sweetheart Sung Cha Chang Dec. 26 1986, who passed in 2015. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was very interested in WWII history and in 1992, wrote an autobiography of his war years, for his family. He participated in the 102nd & 152nd Combat Engineers Association Reunion-WWII in 1992, held in Las Vegas and was a member of "The 27th Division Association" for many years. He was honored to be a part of "Southern Nevada Honor Flight-WWII Veterans" in 2013 to see the war memorials in Washington DC. He loved doing genealogy work and was able to connect with many new found family members. His family was everything to him. He is interred at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV
