In memory of
Bob St. Ours
October 1, 2023
Back in 1972 as a young and very green salesman for Harris Seybold Corporation, I sold Eric a Harris LUP 2/color 49" printing press. It was my
first press sale of a career selling printing equipment that spanned 25 years. Eric was a tough, savvy businessman who was a fun guy to call on. He always had time to see me and to listen to what I had to say. I really respected him and to this day I admire his approach to business and many of the lessons he taught me. My condolences to his family and especially to his son, Jack who, so ably followed in his footsteps. May he rest in peace.

I was just reminiscing about my employment in the late 80's at Avalon Hill/Monarch Printing. I've been in the video game industry for over 26 years now and can trace that career back to a kind man who showed an interest in a punk 18 year old kid working in his warehouse emptying trash cans. Mr. Dott nurtured the interest I had in gaming by letting me evaluate demo submissions he received daily in the mail. This was the experience that allowed a high-school drop out to get a footing in the video game industry. Thank God for the example life and heart of a man like Mr. Dott.

Esther, Jack, Gay, Rick: I am so sorry for your loss. Eric was such a wonderful person. To me, Sue, my entire family, he was ALWAYS unbelievably generous, kind, welcoming, and full of encouragement. Whenever he would give us tickets to a sporting event, or an Avalon Hill board game--or even an Afghan Hound!--I could not help but feel that he was sharing some of his joy for life, and that giving meant so much more to him than receiving. I will remember him always as a unique and special friend to my father and my family. This world needs more people like him. I will miss Eric.
With my sincerest sympathy,

I had five great years working for Eric at The Avalon Hill Game Company, for which I will always be grateful, as this was also my start in an industry where I remain to this day.

Randy Heller- Eric Dott Sr.was particularly kind to our daughter. He granted permission for her to do a senior high school internship within the offices of TAHGC art department. He was very considerate of me when working with his staff as an independent game designer. He was a straight shooter. I have fond memories.
