In the Light of Eternal Grace: The Journey of Eric Kelly Fields
As the year drew to a close, a faithful servant of God, Eric Kelly Fields, was called to his heavenly home on December 30, 2023. His birth on February 19, 1969, in the verdant valleys of Sacramento, was the beginning of a life lived in the reflection of God's love, a testament to the virtues of humility, gratitude, and reverence for the splendor of the Creator's work.
Eric walked the Earth with the gentle footsteps of the meek, his existence a living sermon on the Mount, embodying the beatitudes of the blessed. His laughter was a joyful noise unto the Lord, a sound that echoed the merriment of angels and brought a lightness to the hearts of all who knew him.
In his daily toil as a Machinist 3, Eric served with the precision and skill bestowed upon him by the Divine Craftsman. His work in Health & Aerospace was more than a career-it was a vocation; each piece forged a silent praise to the wonders of human achievement under God's guiding hand.
His scholarly pursuits carried him from the hallowed halls of Kennedy High to the scholarly embrace of Sac. State University, and on to the heights of knowledge at Keller University. In his academic devotion, Eric sought not only earthly wisdom but also the illumination of the soul, honoring the Lord's command to grow in understanding and truth.
Eric's home was his sanctuary, a place of quiet worship and reflection, where he sought communion with God in the stillness of his heart. In this sacred space, he practiced a devout and personal faith, a testament to the presence of the Almighty in the most intimate corners of our lives.
The simple blessings of life-his mastery of the water in swimming, the stewardship of his home, the companionship of his beloved dogs, and the shared love with his wife-were cherished as divine gifts, each moment a humble offering of thanks to the Giver of all good things.
Left to honor his memory are those he loved dearly: his wife Kim Lorraine Fields, his niece Claire Parkinson, his nephews Andre Parkinson & Connor Hertzog, and his cousins Jamie St. Thomas & Family. They are the earthly guardians of his spirit, called to continue his legacy of love and faith.
Now in the company of those who have gone before-his father Lowell Fields, his mother JoAnn Clark, and his siblings Susan Parkinson and Jon Fields-Eric joins the heavenly kingdom, his soul embraced by the everlasting arms of the Lord.
In this time of parting, let us look upon the life of Eric Kelly Fields as a beacon of God's own light, an inspiration to live with the humility of the saints, the gratitude of the psalmists, and the loving respect for all of God's creation. May we follow in his footsteps, carrying forward the flame of his faith, and may we one day be reunited with him in the glory of God's eternal peace.
