HUBBARDSVILLE- Eric D. Jones, 43, of Hubbardsville, and recently of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on April 10, 2016, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, with his family by his side.
Eric was born May 19, 1972, in Baltimore, MD, a son of Robert and Theresa Hughes Jones. He was a graduate of Oriskany High School and Brockport College, where he was a member of the football team. Eric married Lisa Layton on June 25, 2005, at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Utica. Mr. Jones was a Parole Officer with the Dept. of Corrections and Community Supervision, and was a certified firearms instructor. He was a member of Oxford Lodge #175 F&AM and was a Shriner. He was a member of the Polish Community Club in Utica. Eric was an outdoorsman and enjoyed camping; he loved to cook and operated Smokin' Jones Barbeque. He was an avid New York Yankee fan.
He is survived by his wife; his parents; his children, Austin Fategoni and Drew Fategoni-Jones; brothers, Gregory Jones and Brett Jones; aunts and uncles, Jan and Ron Kessler and Clifford and Tina Hughes; niece and nephews, Savannah, Chrystian and Aiden Jones; and many additional aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.
Eric's family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Sullivan and to the nurses at St. Luke's ICU.
Funeral services will be Friday, 11:00 a.m., at Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, Forty Main St., Whitesboro. Interment will be in Grand View Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, 4:00-7:00 p.m.

My heart aches as we say goodbye to a good man and friend. Life is too short and unfair. My heart goes out to his family, sending hugs and prayers. I am sad i cannot be with my sister during this very sad time. Eric you will forever be in my heart and i will never forget the memories we shared as brother and sister inlaw. We will forever love and miss Eric. We may have started out as "the people camping without a camper" but you leave us feeling blessed having been one of the most amazing friends ever!! All of the memories will be held closely in our hearts forever. Love you Eric❤
