I grew up with Eric in Brigham City. We met in junior high band, Eric on sax, I was on clarinet. I hadn't lived in Brigham very long, and had just moved from North Carolina. Eric lived only a couple blocks from me in the southwest part of town, and we became fast friends all through junior high, high school and two years at Utah State University. So you can imagine how shocked I was to learn of his passing. I'd lost touch with him until the advent of Facebook.

Eric introduced me to modern jazz, PDQ Bach, skateboarding, photography, Porches (his dad had one) and most importantly, computers. Eric started the Computer Club at Box Elder High School, and he and I often drove up to Utah State (in his dad's car) to run programs on their mainframe computer (this was in the '70s). Programs were written on little cards by punching out holes in them that the computer would then read. Eric's delight was to write programs that punched out holes in the cards so they would spell a naughty word. I still tell friends here in Maine about that.

Once, when Eric and I took a trip down to Salt Lake City, we were driving up on the "Benches" where the fancier houses are, and we came across a guy with his Lamborgini out in his driveway. He was washing it and obviously proud of it. Eric and I stopped to talk to the guy and gawk at his car. The guy opened the back of the car to show us the V-12 shoehorned in there. We both marveled at it and talked about it for months.

I always hoped that someday I would meet back up with Eric, perhaps at a high school reunion, if I ever made it west to get to one. I'm sorry to have missed him. All the best to you my old friend and perhaps we'll meet out there somewhere, someday. Dan Kirchoff, formerly of Brigham City, Utah, now of Belfast Maine.

I never had the pleasure o knowing Eric in person but we had so many wonderful chats about NASA and early atomic tests and things that glowed in the dark and shouldn't. I feel so cheated that I never got to hug my amazing friend. Rest in peace, the worst is over. -- Cherie Buchheim

Very sad, I really liked Eric but sadly did not get in touch much beyond Activision. Shame to see someone have such a short time on this earth, I hope he had happiness in his travels...

Sorry to see you go so early. Was a pleasure to work with you at Activision. Had lost touch since then but have fond memories.

I worked at Activision with Eric. We didn't interact much but he was always a friendly face and one of the gang. My condolences to the family.

I had the pleasure of working with Eric at Activision in the early 1990's. He was one of the good guys.

Sad to hear of his passing.

Farewell, my best friend and mentor. It's been a long time since MechWarrior 2 and the Activision days, but we always managed to stay in touch a few times a year. I'm glad we got a chance to speak right before you passed. My love and respect will always be with you.

Eric never had anything bad to say about anyone. He was a great guy and I wish I could have talked with him more.

Eric was a great man and a dear friend to me for a very long time. I'm so sorry we hadn't talked much over the last few years. I miss you.

You were a great man and I never will forget the amazing times we had together. You were the sort of guy that when you talk to them, it feels like you are the only person in the world and there is no one else you have attention for. I admire you and hope you are now in a better place. Gone too soon, never forgotten.

I'll miss you, Eric.
you were a pretty cool dude and wished we talked more back in the internet forums we were in.
I may have not known you in real life, but to me you will be that cool uncle who could teach a thing or two about gaming.

Rest in peace. I didn't know you in "real life", just in passing on the Internet, but you were reliably intelligent, kind, and interesting. The world is a poorer place for your passing.

I will miss you forever, Eric, whom we call Funky, just because he LOVES THE FUNK. A lovely soul, a brilliant mind, a life well lived but for complications. An amazing musician, computer wizard and most of all, an amazing friend. You are not dead, our friend, because your impact on others was phenomenal. And we will carry your goodness on and spread it to others. That is immortality. And it is love. Godspeed, e.

Eric and I reconnected last month (April 2015), he was looking good, he had just cut his hair which had been very long, for a long time.
We had sushi in 2008.
We went to high school together, and before that, elementary school.
What a character!
I wish we had spent more ime together.
Sorry about your health problems, Eric.
