My deepest condolences to Eric's family on the loss of this very dear man.
Eric and I had biology courses together at Penn State Schuylkill and I remember the intense interest he had for insects especially butterflies.
My senior year, the last time I spoke with Eric was when he found out I won a fellowship to study Arctic Wolves through a partnership Penn State had with the University of Alaska. I told Eric I would bring back some Arctic butterflies for him.
Unfortunately, our paths never crossed again but I have been thinking of him since I returned to Penn State Shuylkill to teach. I'm sorry I missed him.
To Eric's family, you have my deepest sympathy,
Stephen P. Roman, Ph. D.

I found mention of Mr Quinter through the book "Rare, declining and poorly known butterflies and moths" by Schweizer, Minno and Wagner. I was fascinated by the insight he provided to a ecosystem I am enthralled by so I looked him up to see if i could follow more of his studies or anything of the like then my heart sank when the first to pop up was his obituary. I truly hate to hear of his passing but his contributions to and love of science will continue to live on! RIP

Eric and I were friends during our freshman and sophomore years of Penn State at the local campus in Pottsville and Schuylkill Haven. His early years were filled with science and exploration. He was a brilliant man. Taking a walk with him was like getting a private tutorial of the biology of that acre. He collected insect specimens by the thousands. He could name each and every rock. The world was a better place because Eric was in it.
