Eric Allen VATIKIOTIS-BATESON

I am tremendously shocked to have learn the news today, after almost two months... I still remember climbing up the stairs into our program director's warm, happy home, it was one of the most wonderful nights of my life. I still remember presenting my own research to Eric in COGS 402 - it was stressful, because he will make you earn it; it was also reassuring, because he trusts you and you should trust yourself. I wish I could once again visit Eric and tell him about my adventures since graduation, and how much strength the wonderful experience and memories in the Cognitive Systems Program has given me, all impossible without his charisma, care, wisdom, and vision. Laurie, sincere condolences to you and your family. Eric will live in the hearts of all cognitive system students, and continue to inspire our future.

I met Eric in Takanohara while I was a intern in 2002. What a great boss, and great person he was ! What a fantastic time we had !
I remember my grand father died abruptly in France when I was there. Eric did everything to put me in a flight so I can join my family. It really meant something for me.
I was glad to see Eric again in 2007 in Vancouver, with so much energy.
