hi brother,
it took untill today to muster the courage to talk to you. your passing at such an age and so suddenly cut really deep. so deep in fact that i feel that i have been walking around numd ever since. but today that all changed. today i was taking my break at work and found myself daydreaming about trout fishing. so i got on the computer and found myself looking at pictures of trout fishing on the connecticut river, and son of a gun if you didn't come popping out of those photos right in front of me. you were there waitng for me, i should have known. the next thing to come to mind was the paper you wrote about your favorite day of the year and how it starts building with idle day dreams during the winter. i'm there brother, i am there.
a wise freind of mine was trying to comfort us after your funeral and said to me that it was okay if we mourned your passing, it was a sign that we loved deeply and that is something that could not be taken away by death. so as we go forward in our life we carry your memory with us me and remember the love that was always present in our family. with these in our heart we know that things will be okay.
so now that i have kind of bared all and shed my hard guy image i can with all of my heart say that we love you and we miss you tremendously.
so as winter is setting in and the thoughts and dreams of yet one more opening day starts to churn in the depths of my being you can rest assured that i will find you again, it's only natural. i will bring you your rod in the spring. who knows maybe just maybe we'll catch the big one this year with your help.

Eric and I served in the 82d together. We were the only two people from CT in our Company (A Co, 82d Sig BN). We served together in the gulf. We also shared a love for the Grateful Dead. The weekend I came home from the Army, he was waiting for me with beers. I spent the weekend with him at his house and we partied like vikings on the river and ate a ton of ice cream. I ran into him a few times since we came home and he was always smiling and had a big bear hug waiting for me.
He will be missed.

Eric, Nothing is the same with out you. Holidays, the shop, parties or anything else for that matter. Life is different! I know your up above watching over everyone that you loved but we all want you here. You were taken from us way to soon! We miss you so much. I actually saw you last night in my dream. It was so real. I kept asking if you were real until you came over and gave me a hug and a kiss. I touched your face and even felt your sweat. We said that we loved each other and you walked away. I woke up and thanked god for your visit. It meant a lot. I was so worried about doing you proud in your eulogy, I think your visit was to finally let me know that I did. I love you and will see you again some day.
Love, Regina(Rags), Dave, Kayla, and Jordan

Just like some of us that grew up in this town, I've known Eric and his family since we were in elementary school. We were best buds growing up, and remained good friends as we got older and went on our own journeys. As kids, we used to go down to the scantic and fish all day, then head back to his house and hang out at the "shop". It only seemed like yesterday as I look back and will remember my
life-long friend as that simple kid with the big dimples who loved the outdoors. Eric, you will always be missed, your friend Jr.

I got to know Eric through our mutual friend Tim Frerking Engstrom. It was clear he was a genuinely big-hearted person who took his family and his friends seriously. There aren't many guys like that in this world. He will be missed.

To the Wormstedt family and friends:

There are no words to express the sadness we feel with Eric's passing. He was truly the best son, brother, uncle, and friend a person could wish for and he took all of these roles seriously. A testament to this was the many friends who came to pay their last respects. Please know that our thoughts are prayers are with all of you and that Eric is now with Bud, Faithey, and Wayne, and that you now have another angel watching over you. We loved Eric dearly and will miss him always.

Eric,
I remember the very first time I met you. You were about 12 years old. You smiled at me and then ducked behind a fence post and blushed. I was very lucky to watch you grow and get to know the kind and witty and sweet child you were. I also remember the first and only time I seen you in your uniform. The young man that stood before me took my breath away. It was at that moment I realized what a handsome, honorable, respectable, caring gentleman that you became. You were a very special friend. Men like you, Eric, come along once in a lifetime. We will miss you.

Eric aka The Man,
You have helped me through so much. I will miss talking to you every night for hours, our deep talks, and our silly ones.... I know Bryan was up there waiting for you, so now you two can party together. You were taken too soon and I will always hold a piece of you in my heart...a piece to replace the one you took when you left. Thank you for touching my life, I'm a better person because of you. Love you and Miss You, Jeanine

Our deepest sympathy to the family
of Eric Wormstedt. Eric was here in Tulsa, Okla. in May, 1998 for his best friend, Bryan Christianson's wedding and again, May 16th, 2008 (2 1/2 months ago) as the pallbearer for our son, Bryan's funeral. Eric and Bryan were like brothers and they both served in the 82nd Airborne Divison in Desert Storm. He was such a very fine gentleman and we know he will be missed by so many who loved him. Just know that Bryan escorted Eric to his heavenly home to be together forever.

Eric...a wonderful, honorable, and wise man. A super neighbor. A true friend. You are greatly missed. We can all recall many great times in your presence. Woolam Road - and the majical way it keeps us all near - will never be the same again. Your beeping passes, your back yard strolls, your infectious laugh, your fun and caring nature. It's hard to believe we won't have those anymore. You obviously fulfilled your purpose here and are on to party with God and all the rest who went before. Show everyone up there a good time - like always. We'll see you again, Brother!
Be at PEACE.
