Erich Carl Grether

Erich Carl Grether, 38, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away on April 13, 2025. Born on February 5, 1987, in Missoula, Montana, Erich brought joy and passion to everyone who knew him.

Raised in Pennsville, New Jersey, Erich graduated from Pennsville High School and pursued his love for automobiles at Universal Technical Institute in Exton, Pennsylvania. As a skilled auto technician, he turned his passion into a fulfilling career, earning the respect and camaraderie of his work family in Sarasota.

Erich's greatest pride was his family. He leaves behind his fiancé, Kasey E. Scahall, and cherished children, Erich Michael and Avery Elizabeth, and Kasey's son Mason, all of Sarasota. He is also survived by his mother, Laura A. Hayen of Wilmington, Delaware; father, Michael E. Grether, and his partner Laura F. McNew, of Chesapeake City, Maryland; and siblings, Michael S. Grether and his wife Lori, and their children, Vincent and Viviana, of Pennsville, New Jersey; Nichole L. Tooker, and her children, Hayden, Layne, and Addyson, of Bellport, New York; and Brandon C. Grether and his wife Lisa Forst, of Denville, New Jersey; Laura F. McNew's children, stepbrothers Robbie McNew of Middletown, Delaware; Jamie McNew of Houston, Texas; and Will McNew of Charleston, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Assunta Hayen, Salvatore Pirecca, Carl Hayen, Flora Grether, and Erich (Henry) Grether. Erich's warmth and humor will live on in the hearts of his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, in-laws, and "outlaws," as well as countless friends.

Erich will be deeply missed by all who loved him. His vibrant spirit and kind heart left an indelible mark on his family and community.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.
