Dr. Voght taught me Physics 101 in 1969 in the huge Hebb Theatre on the UBC campus. The man had extraordinary energy and enthusiasm for the material such that I'd visit him during office hours to learn more. He will be missed!

Eric died few days after my husband who was an italian physicist and one of his many friends. We both loved him and his wife whom we met in Vancouver and in Newport News. My husband Alfredo tought he was a lovely, great man. I learned of his departing from the Cern Courier and so I learned that his wife was no longer with him.
You children must be proud of your parents.

Please accept my warmest simpathy,

We loved cousin Erich. He was a rarity: both brilliant and kind. He was a profound inspiration with his sense of wonder, sense of humour, and willingness to dissent from the conventional wisdom. He will be missed. Our condolences to his family for such a great loss. --John Eric Neufeld and Christiane Neufeld( Steinbach)

I am so saddened to hear about your loss. Your father spoke inspirationally at our High School graduation in 1972. A true Canadian is no longer amount us.

Our heartfelt condolences to the Vogt family, children, grandchildren, as well as Uncle Peter and Linda. I have heard wonderful stories of Uncle Erich's kindness. We are sorry for your loss. Last summer I read parts of Stbh. Saga, since I also grew up there I found his perspective interesting and entertaining. I appreciate the gift that he has given us and all the effort he put into telling his and Barbara's story. Your second cousin, Caroline(Kroeker)& Karl-Friedrich Brandt

I was deeply saddened to hear of the death of your dear father and grandfather. I had the wonderful pleasure of being in touch with him regularly in the last few years as he worked enthusiastically on writing his life story as well as that of your mother. I appreciated his kindness and generosity and was inspired by his dedication to this project as well as his devotion to his family. I also enjoyed sharing recipes with him!

We extend our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to you in your great loss.

"Uncle Erich" was bigger than life! I loved his positive attitude and fearless sense of humour. I have fond memories of his irreverence and will always treasure that time that I spent with him and your mother. Every Christmas I looked forward to seeing what beautiful artistry he had created in his fruitcake. I know that my father considered him to be a very special friend and appreciated his phone calls when he was at the end of his life. My thoughts are with you.

My husband Ken Crowe who worked at UC Berkeley and the LBL Lab, also was involved at TRIUMF and was great friends with Erich whom he admired tremendously. When Ken died 2 yrs ago I know that the note Erich sent would have pleased him very much.

Few people display greatness in quite so many different ways. I will always miss Erich's booming voice resounding down the corridors of TRIUMF, his generous support and sage advice for our research efforts, his inspirational (for both students and faculty) teaching, his plenitude of backyard tomatoes and his warm friendship. I wish he could have lived forever.

I could not have dreamt of having a more inspirational grandfather. I will think of you and grandma every time I walk on a beach, swim in the surf or hear an old limerick.
