Erika Epp Erika Epp passed away on November 22, 2009 at Luther Special Care Home at the age of 90 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Victor Epp, Hedie (Ross) Borne, Judy (Rod) Leavins, Alfred (Gayle Smith) Epp, and Paul (Beate) Epp; grandchildren, Jason and Steven Epp, Angela (Grant) Martens, Robert (Brandee) Borne, Richard Butzelaar, Cindy (Ed) Kostelyk, Andrea (Steven) Robson, Laura (Dan) Lalonde, Jesse (Jena) Tufts, Maria Epp; great grandchildren, Robyn and Sydney Martens, Zenon Borne, Bryan, Justin, Tyler and Megan Kostelyk, Eleanor Robson, and Davin Lalonde; siblings, Elfriede Harder, Louise Klassen, Irene Kroeger, and Kay Klassen; sister-in-law, Margaret Epp; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Cornelius Epp; parents, Isaak and Elizabeth Klassen; brother, Alfred Klassen; parents-in-law, Isaak and Maria Epp; brothers-in-law, Henry (Johanna) Epp, Isaak Epp, Dick Epp, Otto (Ruby) Epp; and sister-in-law, Martha Epp. Erika was born on October 9, 1919 in Nikolaipol, South Russia the eldest of six children. She and her family experienced the terror of the Russian Revolution. They were fortunate in being able to immigrate to Canada in 1923. She grew up on the Sheldon farm near Hanley, Saskatchewan where they could live in safety, but now had to battle the elements of the dusty, dry depression that took a strangle hold on the prairies. She married Cornelius Epp on September 27, 1941. They spent most of their farming years on the home farm near Dundurn, Saskatchewan. Erika loved gardening, spending time with family and friends, reading, playing games, and making the most wonderful meals. She loved her family and friends unconditionally. Erika lived her life with integrity, compassion, spirituality, patience, and a great sense of humour. Cornie and Erika retired to Saskatoon in the fall of 1983. After Cornie died in 1984 Erika continued to focus on caring for her family. She had a wonderful loving relationship with her brother and sisters with whom she spent many happy times together. Erika's strength of character and secure faith in God would help to see her through difficult times in later years as Altzheimers began to invade her life in 1994. She spent six happy years at Bethany Manor. When she was no longer able to take care of herself, she went to live at the Luther Special Care Home. We thank all those people who had the opportunity and responsibility of taking care of her during her final years. The funeral service will be held at the Pleasant Point Mennonite Church south of Clavet, SK on Saturday, November 28 at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Harry Harder officiating. Arrangements are in care of Mourning Glory Funeral Services, 978-5200.
