Erin Kay Ashby, 76, of American Fork, passed away on October 25, 2023, in Provo, UT.  Erin was born May 11, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah to William and Ruth Card Ashby.  Erin married Sylvia Brady on December 20, 1973, in the Provo Temple, but they later divorced.

Erin was a worker and a thinker.  His love of the Savior and of the gospel reflected in all that he did.  He was always known to be very strong but gentle.  He loved and was fascinated with aviation, engines, and all things mechanical.  He loved working with his hands.  If he didn’t know how to do something he would work on it until he could figure it out.  He loved the outdoors and being in nature.  He also loved working with the Boy Scouts, and served for many years as a Scout Master.  Erin was fiercely proud of his country and served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era, spending time in Germany, Montana, and Colorado.  Erin was a life-long educator and mentor.  He loved people and could talk to anyone, including strangers he ran into on the street, for hours, about any subject.  Erin was very generous.  While he never achieved much worldly wealth, he believed his wealth was in knowledge, the people he knew, and his wonderful family.

Erin is survived by his sons and their families: Nathan and Stevi of Clinton, UT; Heber and Kate of Knoxville, TN; Benjamin and Sandra of Saratoga Springs, UT; Jonathan and Marisa of American Fork, UT; David and Khiah of Philadelphia, PA; 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and his siblings: Will, Arda, Eric and Eda. He is preceded in death by his parents.

The service for Erin Ashby will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the American Fork 10th ward building, 507 W 700 N, American Fork, UT. A viewing will be held from 9:45-10:45 AM prior to the services. Please share a memory in Erin’s Guest book at www.AndersonMortuary.com.
