TROY - Scott B. Tye, 53, of Troy, Ohio, passed away early morning Oct. 26, 2014, at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

He was born Aug. 6, 1961, in Toledo, son of Clayton and Lois (Bails) Tye of Toledo.

Scott had worked as a store manager for Staples. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps.

He had attended Emry-Riddle Aeronautical University and graduated from Ohio State University. He was a member of the Ginghamsburg Church and the American Legion and was an avid Ohio State fan.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Barbara A. (Liette) Tye, whom he married Sept. 17, 1997; sons, Matthew and Joshua; a sister, Shawna; nieces and nephews; and his best friends, Scully and Spooky. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Steven Burdette for his exceptional care.

A service with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 N. Broadway, Greenville, Ohio. It was Scott's request that everyone wear their favorite Ohio State clothes for the services.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 4-6 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Christopher and Dana Reeves Foundation, 636 Morris Turnpike, Suite 3A, Short Hills, NJ 07078. Condolences may be left for the family at www.oliverfloyd.com

So sorry for your loss. We will continue to pray for Barb and the family. Scott was my best childhood friend. I'm so glad he reconnected us a couple of years ago, and were able to talk on the phone, text, fb, and email.

Words cannot express how you must be feeling. My heart goes out to all of you. Lean on Jesus and each other to help you get through this sad time. Grieve but don't stay in grief forever. Remember you have a purpose in this life to fulfill. I worked with Scott and Barb at Meijer. You were both fun to be around. Again please except my condolences. Vicki (Inman ) McCully .
