Ernest Blackwell

BRISTOL, Va. – Ernest Eugene Blackwell passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2006, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 8, 1927, in Meadowview, a son of the late George and Sally Helton Blackwell, and lived most of his life in the Bristol area. He was a retired iron worker of Bristol Steel and was a member of Fellowship Chapel. He was an U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clarence Blackwell and Jim Blackwell.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Tina Jackson Blackwell. Also surviving: son, Bob Blackwell and wife Kathy of Bristol Virginia; grandson, Michael Blackwell; sisters, Lucille Snodgrass of Abingdon, Virgie Crabtree of Abingdon, Mary Martin of Emory, Va., and Polly Hoback of Roanoke; brother, Roscoe Blackwell of Bristol Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 8 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2006, in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Scott Price and honorary Pastor Rev. Lester MacKinnon. The burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Forest Hills Memory Gardens, with military honors by the VFW Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Bill Hensley, Bill Ketron, Jules Fee, Sam Jackson, Bobby Jackson, Al Cross-Trower. Honorary pallbearers are George Sauls, Kenny Isley, Freddie Wilkinson, Tony Stout, Doug Price and Bobby Gill.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 6 to 7:45 p.m. at Weaver Funeral Home.
