Ernest BROOKS Obituary
Ernest "Ernie" Brooks peacefully passed away at the age 95 on March 23, 2016 - his 70th wedding anniversary with his loving wife, Ellen. Ernie served six years for Canada in WW II as a dispatch messenger - "one of the most dangerous jobs there was" - and was awarded France's Medal of Honour for his bravery. It was during this time that Ernie met his wife Ellen. They raised their three children, Bob (Judy), Anne (Bill) and Allan (Carolyne) with lots of laughter, respect and love. Ernie's love of family continued to grow with his granddaughters, Stacy (Jason), Rhiannon (Daniel), Kayley (Ryan) and Tanya (Lee) and his great-grandsons, Liam, Aidan and Russell. You had a long, fruitful adventure, Pops. We love you for all you were and the love you gave us. Ernie's family would like to thank all of the wonderful caregivers at the Colonel Belcher Veteran's Care Centre. In lieu of a service or flowers, donations can be made to the Vet's Angels of the Colonel Belcher Veteran's Care Centre by mailing donations to: Vets Angels, #207 132 Shawville Blvd SE, Calgary AB, T2Y T27.

It is Maxine (Whitley, Williams & Gilmore)
Been many a years, but I was so sorry to read today about the passing of your Dad.
He was a great man & Father. Very sorry for your loss!
Your Dad was in WWII and so was my Dad - Calgary Tanks in Dieppe.
I lost my Dad in September at 94 years old & he was also in the Colonel Belcher Veteran's Care Centre & yes what wonderful care there!
It would also be my parents 70th wedding anniversary this year too.
Yes, if we had 94 & 95 years with our Dads - we were very fortunate!
May your Dad rest in peace.
