In expressing my condolences I wanted to be brief and yet convey my memories of Ernie. In reading the other condolences I found that it had already been said by Margaret MacKenney better than I ever could have.

Dear Jane and family,
Our deepest sympathies to you all.
Ernie was a truly exceptional person. Whatever he did, he was totally involved. I first saw that when I came to work with him at Sylvania and he was working on a new spray dry process for lamp phosphors. I always admired his scientific and engineering abilities. In later years it included so many projects at home. It was always fun to learn about them and see photos of the progress on his phone.
We will miss him.

I worked with Ernie at Sylvania when I was a co-op student at Northeastern. A class guy with a good sense of humor. One of the best guys I ever worked with. Rest in Peace, Ernie, and thanks.
My condolences to his family.

You will be missed. I know you are already building another room in God's mansion.

Jane,
Joan and I extend our sincere condolences and wish you peace and strength going forward.
I worked both for and with Ernie for over 30 pleasant years. With Ernie you got Ernie, a totally genuine person. Ernie once told me that one his goals was to 'learn some one new thing every day'. Well, he obviously succeeded in this goal as he always had something new in the realm of the sciences and every day life to share. I very much enjoyed talking 'science' with him in the many times that we spent, one on one, after one of our group Old Timers Luncheons had broke up for the day.
Ernie was a somewhat quiet person in demeanor, but oh so knowledgeable, 'still waters run deep'. Ernie was one of the good people that I shall always remember.
