Ernest Glynn Obituary

Mr. Ernest D. Glynn, of Chatham, formerly of Waltham died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at his home. He was 88. Ernie was born in Salem on February 20, 1925, a son of the late Michael Butler Glynn and Margaret (Pitman) Glynn, and was a graduate of Salem State College. Until his retirement he was a math and business teacher for the Belmont Public Schools. Before that he taught for a number of years in Waltham and in Wayland. During World War II and the Korean Conflict he served with the United States Navy. He had been a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Waltham. A Waltham resident for more than sixty years he belonged to the Holy Name Society and the Couples Club at Saint Jude Parish and was active at Holy Redeemer Parish in Chatham after his move there ten years ago. Ernie was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and had been a coach with the Warrendale Little League in Waltham. He leaves his wife, Jean R. (Olivo) Glynn; his children, Ernest D. Glynn, Jr. of Waltham, Mary Patricia Glynn and her husband, Moe Silberzweig, of Acton and Doreen Glynn Kenny and her husband, Bernard "Roy", of Waltham; one sister, Marilyn Mills of Lynnfield; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Ernie was also a brother of the late Alfred and Joseph Glynn and Phyllis Hobstetter. A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, February 20th, in Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham. Entombment followed in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Waltham. Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
