I just came across the sad news of Mr. Michel's passing. His book was one of the first books I read pertaining to the Holocaust. I was so moved after reading the book, found his phone number & called him. He was a bit surprised but told him had read his book & really admired him. Told him would recommend his book highly. Lastly told him Thankful he was able to survive & He thought on life was incredible. He asked if I was Jewish, which I said I wasn't, but had utmost respect for my Jewish Friends & Israel. This was around 1995. I did take a trip to Poland & saw Auschwitz & remembered his book cover showed that & himself, this was in the year of 2000. Sorry so long, even though never met in person, really glad was able to speak to him briefly. Thoughts & Prayers to all His Family & Friends.

Dear Amy, I only just found out about Ernie's passing. I remember his friendship for Bill which meant so much to him. Ernie gave him a taste of life that I think he might not have had if not for that friendship. Of all Bill's friends Ernie is the one I remember with the most love because he gave so much of it. It is because of Weisel's death that I googled Ernie and was made doubly sad. My condolences to you sweet lady. I know the joy and love you shared with him was so special and you completed his life. My best memories of love are passed to you.

Ernie was a role model of wisdom, affection and courage. A most remarkable man. Words don't do him justice.
Blessed are those who knew him.
My deepest sympathy to his wife Amy and the Michel family.
