I just now found out that my loving caring and gentle Doctor Newton died. 2/12/2020. I am in tears. He was my Hero. He gave me my life back. After 8 surgeries I was able to be look at my disfigured body and deal with it. God Blessed the day I met him. So sorry for your tremendous Loss. Thank You. I am heart broken. We were the same age.

To Robin Newton,
I lament the passing of your Husband. I lament ,almost as much, that I did not know he had moved to Walden as I live in Signal Mountain, not five miles distant. I have thought of him often in the last fifty years, since my wife and I had him to breakfast in the apartment complex in Memphis, on Poplar Avenue ,where we
both lived in the Spring of 1968. We were undergraduates together in Knoxville and shared a class where he coined my nickname and joined my life. I thought he was a Plastic Surgeon in Knoxville and knew no more. I would have visited him had I been aware that he was here. He was very Bright, and even better very Quick with a wicked Humor. I liked him immensely.
After all is done I would enjoy a brief conversation, should you feel it appropriate. I am in the Signal Mountain Directory, but best to leave a message.
Should I never hear I understand and wish you well.

Dr. Newton was one of a kind. He was a true southerner and always had a story to tell. I had the opportunity to work with him at Jefferson Hospital. He loved taking care of people and always had a kind word.

I had the pleasure of working as his nurse practitioner for 8 years. Everyday was a new learning experience mixed in with a few laughs. He may have been my boss, but he was also my friend. Rest easy and it was a pleasure knowing and working with you. You were the best.

Doug was such a pleasure to grace our 2017 Master Gardener class this year. He was constantly inquisitive and humorous, which stimulated others to do the same. I could tell he was brilliant but he never let us know his stature. He was just another gardener in our class.
