Ernest Perry

PERRY – Ernest, 84, Pettikoffer House, Windber, formerly of Southmont, died July 27, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Jan. 3, 1925, the son of Michael and Frances (Urso-Pernice) Perry. Preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Marie (Simone); brothers, Dominick and Samuel Perry; and brother-in-law, Peter Mazzarese. Survived by loving wife of 62 years, Mary Louise (Manganello) Perry; daughters, Frances, married to Richard Stoup, Statesville, N.C.; and Mary Ann, married to Ronald Homola, Johnstown; grandchildren: Rick Stoup, North Carolina; Brian Stoup, married to Kelli, Mooresville, N.C.; Jason Homola, married to Katie, Mickleton, N.J.; and Jodie, married to Mark Thomas, Philadelphia; and great-grandchildren: Haley and Kenan Stoup, Andrew and Austin Homola and Mark Thomas. Also survived by sisters, Vita, married to William Giamone; Sister Grace Michael, Nebraska; and Carmela (Dolly) Mazzarese, Lancaster; and sister-in-law, Rose Perry. His death ends a marriage union of 62 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served in Europe and the Pacific. He retired from U.S. Steel as a foreman for 40 years, and loved woodworking and crafts. He will be missed by many friends from Medi-Home Hospice and the Pettikoffer House. He was a loving and wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 30, Father David Peles. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Joseph Johns Lodge ISDA 214 will hold ritual at 7 p.m. Interment, St. Anthony Cemetery, Richland. Military rituals by VFW Post 155.
