Ernest Richard ?Dick? Starr

Ernest Richard ?Dick? Starr, 86, of Dayton, (Cowanshannock Township), died Tuesday, July 24, 2007, in Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was born July 2, 1921, in Claghorn, son of the late Ernest Edward and Annabel (Dinger) Starr. He was husband of the late Violet Jane (Leavens) Starr, whom he married July 20, 1941, and who died Sept. 30, 2002. He was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by two sons, Ernest Richard Starr Jr. and his wife, Anna Kathryn, of Leechburg, and William C. Starr and his wife, Terri, of Creekside; one daughter, Kathleen J. James and her husband, Joseph, of Dayton; two brothers, Raymond Starr, of North Bloomfield, Ohio, and James Starr, of Cortland, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and six stepgreat-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Marion Ann ?Sue? Stiffler, who died Aug. 6, 2002; three brothers, Leonard, Harry and David Starr; a sister, Marian Starr; a granddaughter, Patricia Ann Harmon; a grandson, Thomas Richard Stiffler, and a stepgrand- daughter, Lisa Rene James. Friends may call from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the CARSON/BOYER FUNERAL HOME INC, Rural Valley, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Fred Catchpole officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Sagamore.
