Ernestine Querro Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 6, 2017.
Ernestine Querro (Bruno) went to eternal rest May 6, 2017, at Stamford Hospital, at the age of 104 years. She was born June 26, 1912 in Daren, CT to Giuseppe Bruno and Civita Di Russo, the youngest of 10 children. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters; Agostino, Giuuseppa Marie, Antonio, Marie Grazia, Benedetto, Elisabetta (Giurana), Gaetano Rosario, Francesco, and Mary Katherine (Canto). She was also predeceased by her husband Lee A. and son Nickolas F. Querro. She is survived by her son Lee J., his wife Sharon; her daughter Bridgenne Li Volsi (Querro), her husband Frank; grandchildren Carey Strahley (Querro), her husband Charles; Allison Querro; Amy Gragg (Li Volsi), her husband Edward; and Bridgenne Mallozzi (Li Volsi), her husband Joseph; and great-grandchildren, Charles and Connor Strahley; Frank and Benjamin Gragg; and Joseph and Madison Mallozzi. Ernestine enjoyed being surrounded by friends and family, especially toddlers and infants. Her kitchen was her domain, easily putting "something" together for unexpected guests. Knitting and sewing were her special skills. Whenever a child was born, family or friend, she made a Christmas stocking with their name on it. Irish knit sweaters were crafted for children, adults, family and friends. This is a small insight into Ernestine, fondly called "Gree" by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. To know her is to love her. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, CT. All are invited to attend a Graveside Service on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. John Cemetery, Hoyt Street, Darien. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

With deepest sympathy. Ms Querro was so kind to me at the beginning of my medical career and I have thought affectionately of her through the years. Tess Kryspin, MD

Aunt Ernie was a very special woman who always had a smile and a generous heart. Her motto was, Mi Casa es Su Casa. Her table was a place of happy gatherings and she was always interested in you and your life while making sure you were eating while talking. Our hearts are heavy and want the family to know that we are with them in spirit. Deepest condolences to Lee, Bridgenne, and their families. Love, Tom and Carolyn

Oh dear Aunt Ernie, please say it isn't so! We have such very fond memories of you and all that you did for our families. You always welcomed us to your home and we sure never went away hungry :) We send our deepest condolences to Lee and Bridgenne and their families. You will be missed by all. May they find strength during this time by remembering your strength. You were a treasure who will live in all our hearts. We love you, Tom and Carolyn
