Harley, we so greatly admired your art and enthusiasm. We were fortunate enough to have owned one of your masterpieces until some low-life stole it from our patio where many in our Life style Village could admire it, and DID! Unfortunately no more. You will never be forgotten mate, that's the lasting impression you left after meeting you a few times.

Harley & Errol are special people, Harley was always ready for a chat in the street. I felt Harley's excitment for the future when talking with him about his retirement & taking up carving full time. So close & yet so far.

Errol and Harley Morgan at Marysville Victoria.
Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family at this sad time.
We met through Errol's family history research in Wallasey. Jean was a near neighbour during the first bombing raid on the town. After much correspondence we finally met up in Marysville in 1999 and visited their beautiful home of which they were so proud. We enjoyed Errol's wonderful Christmas Newsletters. so interesting and colourful.
With fondest memories.

MORGAN - Errol and Harley. 7-2-09 at Marysville Victoria. You and I always saw eye to eye because we are both 5 foot nothing. A caring honest fellow with a heart of gold, always had a word of encouragement and took great pride and delight in seeing others succeed. I'll miss our camp outs and stories and laughs at Winton, Alexandra and Seymour carving events. Errols passion for family history was astounding and her roast dinners just the best after a day of carving. Harley now you can carve full time and be with the love of your life. Carve on my friend but leave carving the roast upto Errol.

When I heard about the fires, my mind immediately turned to Harley and Errol. We had been friends since the days of Upper Hutt, when Harley was a Member of the Order of St John, alongside a number of other friends.
I recall Harley was a gentle person who very much cared for his environment, wherever he was.
We, myself and Nicky, (my nearly to be wife) were about to send our invitations out, including Harley and Errol, but alas, we won't be able to catch up on the good times that we had in Upper Hutt, until later on.
Kindest regards from Ian Murray and all the Murray family from Upper Hutt.

Errol lived next door to me in Greasby UK. I left Greasby in 1956 and migrated to Australia. We remained close friends and we met again when Errol arrived in Aussie. I have visited her home numerous times whilst she has been in Marysville. Harley & I were great mates, sharing our love of woodcarving. It is indeed so very sad and hard to accept they are no longer with us. Deepest sympathy to their family. Our thoughts are with you.

ERROL
I have known Errol from the age of five when she came to live next door to me in Newton.
We started school together, worked at Bibby's together and when she emigrated to Australia we kept in touch via Royal Mail and latterly e-mail. In 1983 my husband Peter and I stayed with her and Harley in their lovely home while visiting Melbourne. Both Peter and myself, along with Errol's friends Marilyn & Reg Fardoe were devastated on hearing the tragic news. We would like to offer our heartfelt sympathy to all Errol's family at this very sad time.
I will never forget you Errol you were a wonderful friend.

I have known Errol all my life as we grew up on the same street in Greasby UK. Later after she emigrated I worked on board ship and visited Melbourne many times, Errol used to meet me when we docked and we'd go off for the day. I have some very happy memories of those days and the outings and things we did together along with her children who were quite young at the time. We have always kept in touch after I moved to Bermuda. I was frantic after seeing the news and after trying to make contact finally heard from another Greasby friend who told me the tragic news. I am just devastated and my heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to her family at this sad time.

Like John Mitchell, I attended Upper Hutt Primary in NZ with Harley. We kept close contact until Harley moved to Australia, then it became the Xmas newletter and card that kept us up to date. Harley called me about two weeks ago. I can't believe I won't hear his cheerful voice again. Godspeed to you both, mates.

I spent all my early school years (nearly 50 years ago) with my friend Harley at Upper Hutt Primary School near to Wellington, New Zealand. Although I lost regular contact with Harley after his mother died and he moved to Australia, he and Errol kept contact with my parents in Hamilton, NZ. Our whole family is devastated at such a tragic loss and our thoughts are with the surviving family. If you can please contact us (especially Vera) in NZ at some time in the future it would be much appreciated
