BOSSIER CITY, LA - A Mass of Christian Burial for Ervin Bernard Trudnak will be at 2 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2016 at St. Jude Catholic Church, Benton, LA. Officiating will be Father Pike Thomas. Interment will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City.

Ervin was born May 3, 1921 in Chase, PA to Michael and Veronica Trudnak and died October 5, 2016 in Bossier City. He was a WWII veteran and served his country in the United States Army. Orignally a Staff Sergeant at Shenango Depo in northern PA, Ervin was promoted to Sergeant Major and was responsible for training, processing and deployment of nearly 1,000,000 G.I.'s prior to D-Day. A longtime resident of Monroe, LA, he had lived in Bossier City for 17 years. Ervin was a retired cost accountant. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Civitan Club in West Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mardell Thompson Trudnak; son, Gerald Stephen Trudnak and a brother, Michael Trudnak.

Ervin is survived by his son, Robert Michael Trudnak and wife, Sylvia; daughters, Patricia Trudnak Keith and husband, Ronnie, Pamela Theresa Trudnak Evans and husband, Lannie; daughter-in-law, Joanna Trudnak; sister, Marie Trudnak Stroney and brothers, Joseph Trudnak and John Trudnak. Ervin also leaves behind grandchildren, Kimberly Trudnak Russell and husband, Frank, Matthew Keith and wife, Morgan, Brian Trudnak and wife, Sherry, Ryan Trudnak and wife, Tabitha, Veronika Evans Jackson and husband, Nick, Michael Evans and wife, Lyndsay, Samantha Evans, Jarrod Moore, Katie Sweeten and Daniel Ethridge and great-grandchildren, Madison, Isabelle, Ava, Abigail and Will Trudnak, Ryder Dean Keith, Hope, Brianne and Lucas Russell and Cannon Ethridge.

Honoring Ervin as pallbearers will be, Ryan Trudnak, Brian Trudnak, Frank Russell, Michael Evans, Nick Jackson and Lucas Russell. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Randy Harper and Jerry Juneau.

Granddaddy was respected and loved by everyone he met.

The Final Salute

Brothers in Arms, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged Hand Salutes as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This Hand Salute is the last that we shall render to Ervin Bernard Trudnak our Brother-in-Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Ervin. And to Ervin it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during WW-II while serving in the U.S. Army. Ervin, we commend you for your honorable service. You are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. You were a true friend. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 961 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Ervin's family and loved ones.
