Essara’s music brings my soul myriad feelings of joy and sorrow. Her powerful voice and rhythms bring sensory awareness to my body. My husband and Essara put forth the song Summertime. Dasher did the arranging and she brought it to all life. Sending her spirit love and light. Rina Kempton

Essra (Sandi) was my childhood friend from 5 th and 6 th grade we lost touch with each other until about 10 years ago when we reconnected and reminisced about our childhood antics and spoke about our lives Essra would always call me on my birthday and sing happy birthday to me in tune of course I am devastated that I won´t hear her beautiful voice next month on my birthday
I loved her and will miss her terribly
May her memory be a blessing

Essra was my soulmate and friend since the age of fifteen. We wrote several songs together including DIGITAL and LOOSEN UP THE SQUEEZE. I believe the latter contains the greatest female rock/soul performance of all time by this always amazing artist. She will truly be missed by her many fans, but her awesome talent lives on through her powerful and inspirational music. My deepest condolences.

It was an honor to have known Essra, from the first time I went out to her parents home (1974-75)
to interview her in the far northeast - Phila for a feature in the Inquirer, through the 1980's
during which I was a member of her band on Keys and occasional Violin.
She was a forceful and non-stop woman with a passion for her mission, and a highly original human in just about everything she endeavored to touch.
Essra, I will never forget you even though you have left us for another musical adventure elsewhere.

Singing at my cousins bar mitzvah. Her mother (my Aunt Ann) encouraged her to go on the stage and perform a rendition of "She´s got the Whole World in her Hand".

listening to esra and her diversified eclectic genre' owned it raw and so pure; especially when she debuted her "New Skins for Old" sound track was so inspirational! I will forever remember her original style and sincere passion to tell stories through her songwriting and voice that was truly one of a kind!

Who didn´t know and love "Schoolhouse Rock", it was a childhood favorite of mine. Ms. Mohawk was talented in so many other ways and worked with some of the very best in the industry. Sincere condolences to the Mohawk family, so very sorry for your loss. May God be with you all as you endure your time of loss.

I will always remember Essra Mohawk as a breath of fresh air. As her long time entertainment attorney, I was always amazed at her commitment to her values, confidence in her abilities and genuine talent. She was the kind of person who you could call and say I need a song for this or for that and she would come back with the perfect tune. Although she definitely experienced success in her career, she was a truly under appreciated as a songwriter because she was one of the greats. Mostly, I will remember Essra as someone who truly loved making music, performing and writing songs. But she was also a champion of righteousness , one of the original hippies, who followed her own path and was clear as to who she was, what she supported, and what she stood for. The one sad element to her life was that she died of a painful disease not surrounded by friends or family. We will say the kaddish for you. Your with my mom and dad now. Have a chat with them. I know they will like you. Love, Bret Lewis
