CHELMSFORD -- Estelle L. (Roy) Mann, 71, a Lowell native and Chelmsford resident, where she was active in town at church and community organizations, died yesterday, July 14, at her home surrounded by her family after a six-year battle with breast cancer. She was the wife of Roger C. Mann, to whom she was married for 50 years.

She was born in Lowell on Aug. 23, 1933, daughter of the late Joseph and Cecille (Berube) Roy. She graduated from St. Louis Academy in Lowell.

Mrs. Mann worked for John Hancock Co. before raising her family.

She was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Chelmsford and a lifetime member of the Chelmsford Garden Club.

She enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, traveling, shopping and relaxing at her home in Maine. Family members recalled her dedication as a mother and how she served as inspiration to other cancer patients.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Susan and Rocky D'Angelo of Holden and Nancy Mann of Dracut; five sons and their wives, Wayne and Cheryl Mann of Dunstable, Michael and Melanie Mann of Dunstable, Gary and Jennifer Mann of Chelmsford, Brian and Maureen Mann of Melrose, and Glenn and Stacey Mann of Chelmsford; 11 grandchildren; a sister and her husband, Rita and X.D. Michaels of Nashua; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Charles and Francine Roy of Menifee, Calif., and Francis Roy of Manchester, N.H.

She also leaves two sisters-in-law, Joan Roy of Westford and Shirley Mudge of Malden; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Mann was also the sister of the late Doris Marion and Robert Roy.
