As a wonderful not only resident here at Cookingham-Greene but she was, & always will be, a mother/friend to me. Some come into our lives & leave footprints in our soul.

To Marianne & Marissa & Family: Our sincere condolences on the loss of your mother and grandmother! Here are a few of our thoughts:

When Esther arrived at Cookingham Greene over 10 years ago, her friendly outgoing nature quickly made her a welcome addition to our community.

Esther came to all of the community events, enjoyed playing canasta, and liked playing in the bocce league. She loved painting with water colors and her house was beautifully decorated with her paintings. She loved gardening and all around her house, her patio, and her backyard were beautiful floral displays.

We had the pleasure of visiting with Esther on a regular basis and enjoyed sharing family stories, good conversations and laughs, plus excellent baking and cooking. We also enjoyed going to concerts with Esther, including several trips to Tangelwood.

Esther loved company and would sit on her front porch and folks would stop by to chat for a bit or she would invite them in to visit for awhile. Esther liked to host and for her 90th birthday a large group of people from CG gathered at her house to wish her a "Happy Birthday"

For us, Esther was like family and we are grateful for having known her.

Our sincere condolences to the family on the loss of Mrs. Godek.

Having been a neighbor of our parents for many years in the Dana Park Chicopee, she was a talented artist that gifted our parents one of her paintings that they cherished for many years.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of loss.

Marianne,

I am so sorry to read about the death of your beloved mother. She certainly had a long and memorable life full of love for others. The request for random acts of kindness is so appropriate for someone who practiced that throughout her life. Kindness brings smiles to at least 2 people: those who receive them and those who give them. And it leaves the community a much better place than before. Certainly, the world could use much more kindness.

You have written a great tribute to your mother. They reflect some of the great memories that you have of her. Cherish them and she will live on for you and your family. Certainly a life well lived!

Always,
Michael

Loved reading this obituary of a remarkable life. I did not know Esther but wish I had. Your love for her shines through every word. Please accept these sincere condolences from a stranger who would have enjoyed a conversation with her in the grocery store line.
