Esther Muir Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 30, 2018.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. Psalm 116:5

Born Esther Ruth Longwell to Earl H. and Ruth Longwell on Oct 14, 1924 in Lancaster, CA., she married her first love, Howard Douglas Muir, Oct 21, 1941. They lived together and raised their four children for 24 years in Los Angeles, CA, in the house where Howard was born in 1920. They relocated to Thousand Oaks, CA in 1965 and then to Paso Robles, CA in 1999.

Esther moved to Colorado in 2006 after the death of her husband and remained there until moving to her final destination, Heaven, on August 29, 2018.

Now she is in the presence of her Precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ-where she longed to be and will forever remain to unite someday with many family and friends that also call Jesus their Lord.

Esther is survived by sisters Lois Nyhuis, Sheboygan, WI and Eva Wagner, San Diego, CA; Children Loretta Jones, Meridian, ID, Patsy Kroeckel, Colorado Springs, CO and Kenneth Muir, Gilbert, AZ; Seven Grandchildren, fifteen Great-Grandchildren and four Great-Great Grands.

She is preceded in death by her husband Howard D. Muir in Dec. 2005, a son, Douglas E. Muir in March 2010, and her first grandchild Joel Martin Jones in Feb 1969.

Our Mother was an example to all those whose life she touched. She was a devoted Mother; a faithful wife; and a helper, confidant and loving friend to many people across our Country; still communicating with high school friends 70 years after graduation.

This exceptional woman was a life-long Bible student and teacher; organizing, writing and teaching ladies home Bible studies in the Thousand Oaks, CA area for over 30 years. After designing a Jesus-focused Christmas advent calendar, she hand-made nearly 200 (selling some and giving many more away) and then taught dozens of women how to make their own.

She was a prolific poet and perusing her many works one will quickly see how her life was ordered. She loved and served first her Lord and Savior, then her husband, children and others. She wrote over 30 poems which were published in her book, "God's Way is Perfect". Obvious in her works is her life's message--to share the Good News of Jesus' death and resurrection for our Salvation with everyone she encountered. She did just that until the day she met her Lord face to face. We will miss her here; but we are absolutely sure that, as those who also trust their salvation to Jesus alone, we will see her when we arrive in Heaven.

She left us a priceless heritage in how she served her Lord, loved our father, and cared for us.
