Alice, we were shocked to hear of Gene's death. Bob Erickson emailed us here in Nauvoo. Gene and I go clear back to high school together; more years than either of us wanted to admit. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I was sorry to hear that Gene had left us. I first met Gene in 1980 and worked with him until he retired. Gene was a great guy and I really enjoyed working with him. He was dedicated, very smart, accomplished some amazing programs and helped solved many complicated problems. Every one at work liked Gene. All the years I work with Gene I never heard anything but positive comments about him. Few of us will be able to have that said of us. Although I didn't know his family I wanted you all to know first hand how those of us who worked with Gene felt.

Aunt Alice,
We're all so sorry. I'm glad we got to see Gene, only briefly, 2 weeks ago. Our prayers are with you.

Jody and I have very fond memories of serving with Gene in the Bountiful Temple. I remember him as a quiet, self-effacing, humble servant who was always willing to do what was needed. I feel greatly blessed to have served with him. He is a great man.

Dear Sister Giles,
I was stunned to learn of Gene's sudden passing. I had no inkling of his illness. I felt his special spirit from the moment he joined our high priest group. Though your devoted companionship with Gene has been disrupted, my sympathies and prayers are with you truly.
