I had the honor and pleasure of first meeting Gene as a member of my Board of Directors where I served as CEO of the Detroit Alliance for Fair Banking. He was a dynamic powerhouse for financial justice, for the underserved, and for racial equity. I was out of the country for months during the time of his transition and did not have opportunity to share my heartfelt thoughts. Know that my prayers are with his family Deborah L Jones Detroit Alliance for Fair Banking

Eugene Wendell --

Most of my memories include you and food - dinner at Fox & Hounds with Brian George Ahern, dinner at the Renaissance Center, lunch in Dearborn, dinner in Philadelphia, and the never-to-be-forgotten 15-minute gulp-down in Kalamazoo (because that's how much time there was before your flight, and we couldn't send you on your way without a good meal). Then there's the one about you deplaning the Blue Goose at the wrong airport, and there's the one about...

Rest in peace, dear friend, and remember the words to your own sermon: "God loves all His children for different reasons,"

I did not have the pleasure or honor of knowing Mr. Eugene Kuthy. I did, however, have the gift of living down the street from his cousin, Carolyn (Kuthy) Mayer. I met Carolyn in 1959. We have been friends from then until now. She called me today to tell me of his passing and what a larger than life, kind, brilliant, loving man he was and how much he has contributed to this world. I leave respectful condolences to his family and friends. May he rest in peace. Jan Coyne-Henkel (Wyandotte, MI)

A friend that will never be replaced! Gene offered and shared his many gifts, intelligence, humor (Kuthyisms) and support to all of us. We all will forever miss you Gene! Rest in Peace! Jane Carpenter, Fraser, Michigan

Larger than life, and more fun than a barrel of monkeys. There are so many "Kuthy-isms" that spring to mind. "op-ta-glop" being one....
May the wind always be at your back, sailor.

We are all better people and more blessed for having had him in our lives.
If there is an internment at Arlington that we can attend please let us know - the entire Courneya family wishes to honor him as he did Tom eight years ago.
