I have not seen Gene or Diane in 30 years. I met Gene when he first came to Ferndale High School in the late '60s. He didn't have a drivers license yet. We would get together with a car full of friends and cruise Woodward Avenue whenever we could. Gene would straddle the center console, left hand on the steering wheel, left foot on the accelerator and drive like a pro. One night we had my Dad's 9-passenger Pontiac station wagon and Gene sat in the way back. Without me knowing, he crawled out the back window and onto the roof of the car while we were moving at 45-mph. He crawled the length of the roof and put his face in the windshield. I was so shocked and he was so lucky that I didn't hit the breaks. We laughed about that for weeks. What a great guy and good friend he was. When I met Diane years later, I knew that he had found a gem. Life goes on, kids, family, grandkids and we lost touch. I am deeply saddened by is passing. Diane, you have my deepest sympathy.

It saddens my heart that a great man such as Gene has left
us. I was wondering, since I haven't heard from him in a while. I worked with Gene on th Bp NaKika Facility in the Gulf of Mexico. We had good conversations and trusted one another in sincerity. When Gene started having his health problems, he confided in me since I am a recovering cancer patient. Our conversations were left between the two of us, confidentially. I did not get to meet any of Gene's family, but just speaking with him, he was closely knit to you. We lost a good one and heaven gained a great one.

Gene was a pleasure to work with as a fellow roustabout at Amoco in Gaylord. He was always happy and made me laugh with his stories. It hurts deeply to learn of his passing.

Dear Mohler Family,
Gene was one of the nicest guys I ever had the privilege to work with. Every time I would call to check on his situation he was always worried about my boys.. (our Scottish Terriers). It was never about how he was doing or how he felt. That just goes to show what kind of character this man had. GOD has definitely received another angel, and may GOD BLESS this family. He will always be MEAN GENE.. I am in Alaska on the Slope wish I could be at the services.

Dear Diane and family, I was very saddened to hear about Gene's passing. But, although he'll be missed, he is now blessed with eternal happiness, something we should all be happy about. His always smile, humor, and kindness will always be remembered!

I was sad to hear that Gene is no longer here in this world, because he was one of God's children who truely let his light shine to those around him. I lost track of Gene when I left BP a year-and-a-half ago, but he used to come to my office on NaKika to spend some time with me-and it was always a positive experience. He will be sorely missed on earth, but heaven has gained another saint.

Dear Mohler Family,
Working with Gene on Na Kika, was a privilege and an honor. As a fellow "Michigander", it was also great to have a fellow "Yankee" co-worker to relate to. He was a wonderful man and he will be sorely missed.
May God bless and comfort your family, in this your time of need.

Dear Diane and family, Gene fought a good fight. He has left the physical for the GLORIES of HEAVEN. We rejoice in knowing to be absent from THIS body is to be present with our LORD! Diane and family, your unconditional love and care will bring you comfort and joy. Much love to you Diane!
