Eugene "Gene" Palm

Eugene (Gene) C. Palm of Peoria, Arizona died on Monday, January 1, 2007 after a brief hospitalization. He was 81.

Gene was born August 10, 1925 in New York City, NY to Anna Katherine (Kiesling) and H. Curt Palm. He moved with his parents and older brother Bill to Boulder in 1927. He resided in Boulder until retiring in Arizona in 1993.

Gene was married to Hilda (VanGilder) on August 28, 1952 at the First Baptist Church in Boulder, CO.

He was a graduate of Boulder High School, Class of 1943. He attended the University of Colorado. He served in the Army near the end of WWII, and 20 years in the Air Force Reserves, 9766th Air Reserve Squadron, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He was a 25+ year member of the Boulder Kiwanis Club.

Gene had a long career in broadcasting with Boulder Radio Station KBOL serving in various roles including sports broadcasting, sales manager, station manager and Vice President. After leaving KBOL he also worked at Bradfield's Building Supply Company and Sutherland Lumber.

Survivors include his wife, Hilda Palm of Peoria, AZ, daughters Gena Palm of Seattle, WA, and Kathy Palm of Johnstown, CO, a son Curt and wife Janet of Fair Oaks, CA, four grandchildren including Jessica Lepetich of Boulder, CO, Andrew Lepetich of Seattle, WA, Dannett Crowe, Rocklind, CA, Mark Arnold, Fayetteville, NC and five great grandchildren.

Services were held January 5, 2007 at Bellevue Heights Church in Sun City, AZ. Contributions may be to: Plaza del Rio Foundation, 13373 Plaza del Rio Blvd., Box 777, Peoria, AZ or Bellevue Heights Church General Fund, 9440 W. Hutton Drive, Sun City, AZ 85351-1463.
