To Kris, and all our friends at St. John. I am so sad to hear about Gene's death. Gene was one of the most significant people I have ever had the privilege to know. In my years in Clearfield, he was a true friend and trusted counselor. He had faced several severe griefs in his life, and went through them without bitterness. Instead, they seemed to make him even more humble and compassionate. I will vividly remember singing with him in choir, touring the old Clearfield Furs, his shaky handwriting, golfing with him, his years on church council, including serving as president, our trip to DC for the giant Promise Keepers rally, listening to him fiddle, and much more. My heart goes out to you, and I praise God for letting us enjoy him for so many years.

Kris, I was away for three weeks and was so saddened when I returned to hear of the loss of Gene. He was such a great asset to our community.
My parents and I have always been so fond of him.
They're up there telling stories now.
My deepest sympathy and wishes for peace and comfort.
Love, Gayle Gearhart

Dear Kris, We are sorry to hear about your dad. He always seemed to have a lust for life whether he was planning a trip to Florida, dancing, or playing violin. He beamed when he talked about playing violin with you, Kris. We especially appreciated his thoughtful postcards to my dad when he was in assisted living. The cards were full of newsy tidbits and humor. Your dad gave us all a lesson in life... keep dancing.

Our sincere condolences to Gene's family. With Gene's passing, we've lost another of truly the Greatest Generation. He was my Dad's (Edwin Nelson) nephew and good friend. I remember him as always smiling, always full of life and joy. Ken Nelson and Susan Perlman (NYC)

Kris, I am so sorry for your loss! I have such wonderful childhood memories of our families vacationing together. Your dad was such a fun person to be around, even as he aged, he always had a smile and a sharp wit. I will remember him fondly! Judy Strathen Kaufman

Kris,
I'm so sorry about the passing of your father. He was a role model of kindness. He always made me feel welcome in your family. I'll never forget riding in the Clearfield Furs van out to Sky Haven, or listening to you and your father playing music together in your living room.
I wish you and your family peace and healing.

Kris- I have so many fond memories of your Father; "peanut heaven", babysitting, jam sessions, and recent flower garden discussions. I'm sure he is tuning up his mandolin because Ralph and Tom have been waiting for him.

Kris, my condolences to you and your family. It was always a pleasure to speak with your father. He was the definition of a gentleman and a good friend of my late mother Gusti.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Gene Williams. We knew each other through the fit-4-life program at the Clearfield Hospital. What a kind and wonderful gentleman. Always missed him when he left for Florida....have to know he's in a better place.

I was so sorry to learn about Gene's death. We all have our regrets. One of mine is that I didn't get to spend more time with Gene when he was in Winter Park. I was not the only one who looked forward to his return to Winter Park each winter. When at our club he was a regular at the back table. But the club no longer meets at the soon to be demolished Mount Vernon. In this age of commercialism it was a pleasure to receive a birthday card from someone I actually know. The last time I saw Gene was at the Broken Egg restaurant in Winter Park. We will miss him. He was the epitome of the words gentle man. Alan Moss, Honorary Member, Winter Park Breakfast Rotary

Murray and family, my condolences. What can I say, Murray? As a little boy and then an older boy, to now, the Williams brothers have held a special place in my heart. On the occasions that I would see Gene while visiting in Clearfield, I always got that great smile and a warm greeting. Thought about him while there over Memorial Day weekend, but no luck. Hope all is well with you. And, no, I never did learn to ride horses, though you tried!

As a honorary member of Winter Park Breakfast Rotary Club, Gene will surely be missed during the winter months. When he was here he participated in all our fund raising events and club events. We were all so glad to see him attend his last meeting here a couple of days before he went home. God bless Gene.
