Eugene Curtis Zollman, from Valparaiso, Indiana, and former long-time resident of LaPorte County, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024 at the age of 86. Gene was born on January 5, 1938 in Waterford, Indiana to Curtis and Esther (Britzki) Zollman. Gene was a kind-hearted man and gave his time generously to the community.

Gene earned a bachelor's degree from Purdue University and a master's degree from Indiana University. He was an United States Army Veteran; and after retiring from a long career at NIPSCO was an administrator and part-time instructor at Purdue North Central for 7 years. Gene was active during his retirement years, volunteering for over 20 Road Scholar Service projects including Rebuilding New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina, and the Restoration of the Battleship Missouri in Hawaii. He also lent his talents to Habitat for Humanity and other significant restoration projects during his 25 years of volunteer service.

Gene is survived by his wife, Judith Pour Davis; his sister Bonnie Milam, his three children Stephen Zollman, Renee Irwin, and Mark Zollman; his grandchildren Brandon Irwin (Joie), Davis Mohar (Morgan), Allison Mohar and Mia Navardauskas, one great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his sisters Stella (Willard) Parthun, Deloris (Edward) Brooks, and Shirley (Harold) Kniola.



A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Those wishing to send a memorial donation may visit the website for Dunebrook which provides services for children and their families.

I worked with Gene (and his wife) at Purdue North Central. Wonderful man. Always cheerful, always helpful. When he taught COM 114, he helped some of my most stressed out students pass the class. We all adored him.
