Eulogio Valenzuela Canaba of Lompoc died Monday, December 12, 2022, at the age of 75.

Eulogio, known as Logi, was born in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico on April 15, 1947, to Antonio and Lucia Canaba. At the age of seven his family moved to Columbus, New Mexico where he entered the first grade. He played Little League Baseball and stayed in touch with his teammates and school friend well into adulthood.

One of his claims to fame was that he was on American Bandstand in El Paso, Texas in 1960.

On August 2, 1966, Logi was hired by the Los Angeles division of the Southern Pacific Railroad. He was sent to Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Texas and finally the Central Coast of California where he worked until his retirement in 2005, from what was then the Union Pacific Railroad.

The first time he came to Lompoc was in 1968. He had been all over California, from Sacramento to Calexico.

In 1971 he married Obdulia (Julie) Osuna, who he had dated since 1967, in her hometown of Kingsburg, California. They settled in Lompoc where they started their family.

Logi enjoyed sports, card games, and his lottery scratchers.

He is survived by his wife Julie, his daughters MariaElena (Faheem) Maolud and Veronica Canaba both of Lompoc, and his two granddaughters Dawinka Canaba-Dietrich of Las Vegas and Destiny Canaba-Francis of Lompoc.

The visitation will be Wednesday, December 21, from 4-7pm, with a vigil service starting at 6pm in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary in Lompoc. Rev. Daniel Martinez will celebrate the mass of Christian burial on Thursday, December 22, at 10am at La Purisima Catholic Church.
