Eva Frank Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 2, 2024.
Eva Therese Frank, 90, of Bethlehem, Pa passed away peacefully on February 23, 2024

Born in Paris, France, Eva was a world traveler, lover of the arts, bird watcher, excellent Scrabble player and a socially conscious adventurer who visited 7 continents, 32 + countries and both North and South poles. She was educated in Paris, NYC and Pennsylvania and earned her Master's Degree from Kutztown State College (now Kutztown University). She taught French on all levels to many students including Pearl S. Buck. While teaching she decided to switch careers and became a travel agent with Hess's in Allentown. She moved to Sarasota, Fl. and continued working as an agent and tour guide until her retirement in 2016. She then returned to Pennsylvania to be closer to her "three wonderful daughters," and their families and friends.

She survived WW2 as a child in Paris, was a dedicated pacifist and supporter of peace. She volunteered for UNICEF, the Mote Marine Center and The Pelican Man both in FL and was a Girl Scout Leader. She was outspoken in the fight for equality, not just for women, but for all oppressed people. She advocated for many World environmental causes also. She was a member of Mensa.

In her free time, Eva enjoyed knitting, reading, music, art, theater, playing Scrabble, the NY Times Crossword puzzle, bird watching and celebrating and toasting with friends and family. Her love for learning and exploring different cultures was evident in her home, which was filled with the art and objects of beauty she collected on every journey.

Eva is survived by her daughters, Lisa Eshleman Murray, Janice Eshleman, both in Fleetwood, PA, Lynne Eshleman Brolly, Bethlehem, PA, her sisters Liliane Frank Akyali, NYC, Christina Frank Green, San Antonio, TX, 8 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Catherine Hevesi Frank and her two husbands, Harry David Eshleman and Mark Siersdale.

Eva's vibrant spirit will be missed by all who knew her.

Please join us in a celebration of her long exciting life on Saturday, March 23, at 1:00 in the Shumei Center, 201 S. Kemp St., Lyons, Pa. 19536. We hope that you will feel free to share any stories you have about Eva at this event.

Eva was a cherished Sarasota friend. We traveled together to France twice, on a canal boat in Brittany and in the south of France (Perpignan) where we visited the house where Eva and her sister passed the years of WWII with a teacher and his wife. Eva and I joined in giving elaborate French dinners for 8 guests. She was always eager to go and do. We had wonderful times together!!!
